Again, Soumare offered nothing when he came on.

Rodgers decides what substitutions he'll make pre game and sticks with that plan regardless of score or performances. Only times he goes off that plan is injuries and red cards.

He does it because he reckons Soumare progresses the ball better.

I have always thought Rodgers gets his subs wrong, all the time he has been here, and I think this constant sub just shows it even more. It's every week now regardless of how Mendy is playing. I have been a big critic of Mendy but he has been one of our more consistent players since Christmas. Soumare is not the defensive midfielder that Rodgers seems to use him as.

Mendy was having a fine game. 

 

And at most points, even looked like the only one willing to give some aggression and fight. 

 

Soumare comes on, loses the ability to turn on the ball or pass to a blue shirt.

He did several that make no sense. Riccy passed to him out of a tight spot, all he had to do was turn but he passed back then they attacked. For the disallowed goal in the second half, the Chelsea player turned left slightly and Soumare did a full turn the opposite direction, like a spin my dog does for a treat. He then stops running and they have a clear midfield to then score.

This is what I thought when Evans came on. He'd planned for Evans to get a few minutes regardless of result or Faes red card, so took off our only good player when we should have been trying to score. I bet he thought we'd be 4 nil up with his elite tactics.

Mendy has always had a good attitude and hopefully his performances and approach will help him get a decent move at the end of his contract in the summer. Meanwhile, some of those on fat contracts for years to come continue to play like they don’t give a shit.

I hope we can keep Mendy. He never lets us down. He never complains. Good.pro. Is Soumare better then Ndidi or is he another one on his way out here? I know he is not what he was but he is still the better player of the two IMO.

Rodgers' treatment of Mendy and Ndidi has been ridiculous.

 

Soumare deserves nothing from Leicester yet he continually gets game time. Couldn't stand watching him jog about when Fernandez and Kovacic were running rings around him.

I'd have understood if he wanted to bring on Ndidi for defensive solidity as we were getting carved open at times but Soumare is infamous for not tracking runs and also isn't better on the ball than Mendy. Rodgers just thinks he is because he'll roll the ball under his foot every few minutes. Was glad to see the fans booing the decision as at least Mendy will see that he's being appreciated by the fans if not the manager.
