After what he did for us I'd like to see him taste some more success. Best of luck for the season. And that is what other teams didn't realise. Our success was built on Pearson building blocks over the years. Bristol City was the project he needed and Pearson was the right man for them. They'll do well this season and a great match. It'll be good to give King and James a good reception when we play them. 1

Mads might only get one game before Coventry, which is insane. I'd imagine he's already had a decent pre season with Brondby, the Danish league kicked off last week
CosbehFox Posted 25 July 2023 Posted 25 July 2023 Nige’s Bristol city handing out another walloping. Cov did too - 5-1 at MK Dons

Don't really see them as a club on the rise, but they seem to be sorting things out well behind the scenes.

Mind you, most usually are at this point... 2
RowlattsFox Posted 26 July 2023 Posted 26 July 2023 I've seen Blackburn and Preston play at Fleetwood in the last few days, both finished 0-0. On this evidence we don't have much to worry about. Preston match last night had 2 red cards and Scott Brown got a yellow In a friendly. 1
Filberts lovechild Posted 26 July 2023 Posted 26 July 2023 Cov seemed to have done quite a lot of business in the window. Seem to be getting good results in pre-season too with plenty of games. Getting quite concerned about our own prep Vs theirs ahead of the first game 👀 1

In 100+ years of football they have spent around 2 seasons in the top flight,.never won a trophy, never produced an England international nor even produced a famous player (Andy Cole on loan for a few games doesn't count as producing a famous player) I can't think of a.more depressing club to follow. 2

It was four seasons in the top flight in the Seventies. John Atyeo was one England international. We have never won a MAJOR trophy. And there's always Bristol Rovers for a start. As for producing famous players, I would watch this space in the future. Other than that, not much bollocks spouted there... I bet you are one of those that thinks you're going to sign Alex Scott. mohammedsaqib Posted 26 July 2023 Posted 26 July 2023 Have lived in Bristol for 15 years so see Bristol City quite a bit. It’s embarrassing that a city this size hasn’t had a top flight club in so long. Excited to see City back at Ashton Gate - had to sit in the home end for Lloyd Dyer’s last minute equaliser there in 2010. Might have to do the same this year. 1

Popular Post SuperMike Posted 27 July 2023 Popular Post Posted 27 July 2023 I cannot believe how many people truly believe that we are going to breeze through the season and win this league at a canter. What the heck is this optimism based on? i )We are a club in total turmoil coming out of a pathetic season in the top division. ii )We are accustomed to losing - a winning run brings confidence and success, a losing one doesn't. iii )A dozen senior players have left the club, including the 4 best players. iv )From the academy to the boardroom there doesn't seem a spark of success or any idea how to progress. General farce from top to bottom. v )The only team from this division we played last year beat us fairly easily. vi )The new manager is an unknown quantity with no experience (yeah, ok, Palma) at this level. vi ) The talk is all about adopting a style that is patently not suitable to LCFC. vii ) The players we have are not suitable to this proposed style. viii ) This division is made up of ex premier league teams and sleeping giants (bar 3?) and not a bunch of bumpkin amateurs. ix )Our pre-season preperation has been somewhat lacking - the far east tour has not helped. x ) Transfer window has done us no favours - still plenty of disenchanted deadwood around. xi )Players from the academies / reserves of the 'big six' unlikely to guarantee success in this league (even if they do have ridiculous names like Hannibal and Silko) xii ) One of Rodgers' sides biggest failings was 'lack of physicality' (ie. What a bunch of weeds). This has not been put right and we are entering a division where toughness counts. I could go on, but it's depressing me. I thought with the signing of Coady that things were looking up and we would be nowhere near the drop-zone - but not so sure now. One thing is for sure, though : Promotion is a non-starter. 4 3

There's nothing in-between on here is there?? There's those who think we will piss the league and that every team is basically Oadby town, and those that think we are the worst team ever and will be lucky not to go down. I don't think either is true, and there can't be any judgement on pre season or the transfer window yet. At the end of August we will know a hell of a lot more, we will know who has left, what the squad looks like and what start we have made. There is no point being highly optimistic or pessimistic at this stage. 7 1
foxymat Posted 27 July 2023 Posted 27 July 2023 Did not realise that 3 of our strikers were in the top 3 in the top goal scorer odds! https://www.bettingodds.com/news/championship-top-scorer-odds-2023-24

jim5000 Posted 27 July 2023 Posted 27 July 2023 Are we really only playing two friendlies this pre-season - Northampton and Liverpool - with the Spurs match cancelled?
