We're playing Palace this week, Iwobi plays for Fulham

And who do we play on Saturday?

Great attacking threat today albeit against a Championship side (his current level?), but still so vulnerable at the back. QPR had so much joy on his side. The calls for a new right-back will not be going anywhere any time soon.

But in this system it's not as simple as saying it's his side.  That implies that it's where he should be, but given he's supposed to be getting forward and attacking, when that's happening Coady is the RCB of a back 3.  He (Coady) is supposed to cover that side along with one of the CMs if the opposition win possession and quickly transition up the pitch.

Credit to him for his 2 goals, but the individual mistakes where still there and I'm certainly not convinced

Not by him.

Just the one howler that I saw where Rangers player rolls it backwards with his foot to the attacking RW and Justin seemed completely flummoxed and didn't turn back.

It's a system that doesn't seem to suit any of our defenders. Hardly a surprise that said-system is being implemented by a a former striker. I'd still have taken Moyes given the chance, but I'm left praying RvN learns how to make a team defend BETTER than they are. They're arguably worse.

JJ is an RB last I checked, but sure as hell doesn't play like one. Is far better at attacking than defending once he actually gets past the halfway line and doesn't instinctively turn 180 degrees and passes back like he usually does.

Coady, I'm afraid, is diabolical

Fck knows why RVN keeps persevering as in this case, we have other - and better - options

Preaching to the choir there.  Thought he was a bad signing at Champ level.  Mad that he's now starting for us in the Prem. He's got to be brown nosing his way in!

There is no reason to suggest Moyes would have came here though

After the mess with Rodgers, we aren’t exactly in a great place for someone like Moyes or Potter to consider it worth the chance. Need to see if Ruud has any funds to spend, just how deep are we? Im sure we will sort things out but we are so far from the attractive proposition that we once was.

He's had a rotten season and defensively still had issues but let him have that today. He needed moments like the goals.

With regards to system, I am surprised we have swapped the roles of the fullbacks.

JJ has played in a back 3 for us before and Kristensen has been used as a wingback for both his national side and Bologna last season.

This would allow JJ to tuck in, VK to bomb on and Bilal playing from the left to invert and play alongside Buonanotte as two 10’s.

Seems like it solves 3 problems in one go.

I just don't think VK has the engine or the pace for the role though.

At 22 yrs old he should have the engine. Not a speed merchant by any means but wouldn’t consider him slow

Played bloody well yesterday took his 2 goals well said to my lad when one of his shots nearly hit the lads in SK1 the bugger should have done that at Villa, but FairPlay to the lad a solid performance!

He did play well and took his goals like a forward. I think the criticism he gets on here gets a bit OTT sometimes. He isn’t quite the player he was before injuries but he still has a big part to play for us.

James Justin needs a Wes Morgan next to him. I don’t think Coady, Faes or Veste have the ability to lead the defence.

True, but I think Morgan vastly improved and gained confidence when Huth was next to him. I personally think he was the most important influencer. Having said that in fairness, Fuchs, Huth, Morgan and Simpson all knew what they were doing compared to this lot and were all leaders.

I believe the club was recruiting players for their playing profiles, so it makes sense that they complimented each other.

Mans popped up with 2 goals! What a boy.

Need more bravery like that in the league now, hopefully a confidence boost for the lad

Scoring two away to Arsenal did him a world of good didn't it.

:dunno:

wouldnt be surprised if Palace switch Sarr to the left just to ensure he can get endless service into Mateta.
