Before starting after the world cup there was nothing wrong with this. Got over our initial bad start and was in form before we stopped, no problem with looking up at that point.

Exactly. The more concerning comment is that he/they didn't see relegation coming until Rodgers was sacked

Just goes to show how thick so many people at the football club were, and dare I say it, still are. 

 

I'm glad they've finally started to turf some of these negligent morons out, but there's still a lingering smell of failure and there's zero accountability.

Stowell’s comments prove exactly what we thought last season.

If they didn’t think relegation was a possibility until Rodgers left then that’s utterly dreadful management from Top, Rudkin and Whelan.

The fact that alarm bells weren’t ringing at Christmas proves all of them aren’t football people.

Alarm bells should have been ringing after we got 1(?) point from our first 7 games. How could a large section of our fanbase have known we were going down if Rodgers stayed in charge, yet the highly paid professionals that run our club could not see it.

It worked. Theres people on here and all over socials that are drinking from the King Power kool aid again. Quite a few posters on here labelling people as 'moaners' for wanting the best for the club and some accountability as to why the best opportunity we've had in years was completely and utterly squandered in the most incompetent fashion. 

 

As long as these types of fans are the most prevalent nothing at the club will change.

Tbf though, by the time the league stopped for the World Cup, we'd just gone on a great run and climbed to 13th place. We were still only 4 points above the relegation zone, yet we were also only 4 points below 7th placed Brighton.

I can see why, at this point, 8th place was seen as a realistic target. However, as soon as we restarted the campaign so badly with that consecutive run of defeats, the alarm bells should have been ringing again, and the managerial change should have been made.

I do think they had a reasonable expectation in Rodgers' abilities to not just us up but by a safe margin. For a guy who considered himself an elite manager the absolute failure to MANAGE when going through a tough period is genuinely shocking. He was on such a big contract because he was doing well enough to be in danger of being poached by Arsenal and being tipped as Pep's replacement. Now he's back in Scotland at the level he belongs.

 

The most valuable thing Vichai gave us wasn't money, it was his time. Khun Top has been thrust into his dad's seat years too soon, and then immediately had a pandemic destroy his company's income for more than 2 years and his own personal wealth tanked by about 80%. We're just a small part of the KP infrastructure and again, I think he had a reasonable expectation that Susan and Rudders could deal with everything.

 

We SHOULD have finished top 8 last season. But we stood still, thinking we could do a Tottenham and fluke a final and stay up there amongst 'big boys'. But we're not Tottenham, we're not one of the anointed. We're Leicester City, and our unsanctioned success made us more vulnerable than anyone else. 

 

Now he's doing tours and press conferences with the players to show the fans that he's more involved with the club, but to me it's still not good enough. We've changed the coaching staff including long-serving coaches who've been here from before League One days but the top level staff remains mostly the same. Finance Director Capper has gone to Newcastle to <redacted> the <redacted> but the Director of Football is the same. Villa went out and got Emery and Monchi when he was available and will thrive for the next 3 or 4 years.

 

We need to show the same ambition and pack our senior management out with experienced and successful figures from the continent. Stop sitting still, move us ****ing forward.

 

Oh, and sue Everton, Man City and the Premier League.

It really does make you realise that going on good runs or just scraping a last minute winner or even equaliser can actually make you worse off. 

 

Lot of if's here but if we go into the World Cup without that great run - Ward is dropped, Brendan more than likely goes and at the very least everyone at the club realises there is the immediate danger of relegation and that mentality is taken on.

 

Even if we don't equalise against Brentford i think he goes, Dean Smith gets the international break, and we survive. 

 

Having said all that the fact it took until 10 games to go to do anything is the biggest example of incompetence i have ever seen from any business in my lifetime, let alone Leicester.

Rodgers' comments in private about targeting a top 8 finish at Christmas completely contradict his comments in public of "I haven't been backed" and "I'm doing the best with what I have". He knew this squad had more quality than he was letting on. 

 

It was what we all thought it was, self-preservation. Loathsome man.
