Just signed for Fulham for around £20million. Already had a decent career after we let him go and he's about to have a crack at the Premier League. Is he going to be that one that got away and go on to have a truly good career at the highest level?

Absolute failure of a move to Ajax. They slaughtered him over there. How he got a move to the PL off rhe back of it is mental, particuarly for such a big fee.

You mean like Vardy and Wednesday? I don't think he'll be even close to that.

The guy has one decent season at Rangers and apparently "We've missed out"

 

He's so good, Ajax basically told him to fvck off.

 

Let's see how he gets on at Fulham.

 

I'm thinking more Titus Bramble than Rio Ferdinand.

pretty spot on this, an Ajax fan I know is over the moon hes left and cant believe someone paid £20mil for him

We asked him to become a CB at Leicester and he didn't fancy it. Moved on, became a CB and has done ok, nothing major. 

 

His pace gets him out of trouble, poor positioning for a CB in reality.

Personally think he'll get really found out at Premier League level. As @moore_94 (I think!) clarified the other day, the circumstances surrounding him leaving basically involved him wanting to be played as full back rather than centre back, and now he's being used as a CB. 

 

We've definitely lost out on some money but I'm not entirely sure it's one to pin wholly on the club or academy set up. Happy to be proven wrong by someone with more of an ear though.

Agree. Hasn’t lasted long at his two clubs since leaving and won’t last longer than 2/3 seasons at Fulham.

On the pitch yes. Not sure about any issues with him off the pitch. But they don't rate him at all and how he's gone for the sort of money he has says everything about the modern game.

I remember trying to sign bramble on champo years ago, the board kept blocking the move and I never managed to sign him. Seems a pretty basic computer program knew more about football than me lol
