Yeah you're right, why don't we just spend £50m on a Maddison replacement?

We can't but don't expect a player of Maddison's ability. He showed some decent stuff for Reading but looks a sound player rather than a game changer.

Problem is teams may walk through us with that midfield also. You’d hope for an Ndidi or Choudhury at times.

In the prem yes but think should get away and have to much of the ball to get walked through

Agree with you. This is the main flaw in Enzo's plan. Winks may do well in possession, but he doesn't look strong out of possession, like Rodri at Man C

It will expose Vestergaard in particular

Yes we saw it in some pre season games, even against Northampton. There’s not much cover, but that’s the tactics as well as individuals I think.

Which is why Ricardo is playing the position he will be.

From a who has impressed the most article

Cesare Casadei, Chelsea

Chelsea's Italian wonderkid was bought from Inter Milan last summer, and after spending time on loan at Reading, the more cynical fans may have been forgiven for wondering if he would get a look-in for the first-team given the club's recent history with loans.

But the 20-year-old has thrilled fans and neutrals alike with his performances in pre-season, taking his stunning form from the Under 20 World Cup into the Blues tour of the US.

Casadei ran the show from midfield in Chelsea's clash with Wrexham, which they won 5-0, assisting Christopher Nkunku's strike to make it 4-0 having caused the Welsh outfit constant problems with confident passing play and line-breaking runs from deep in central midfield.

With midfielders notably short in number at Stamford Bridge, the Italian has well and truly put his hand up for selection with performances beyond his years highlighting that he has all the attributes needed to succeed at the highest level; a keen eye for a pass, confidence on the ball running through the middle, anticipation and awareness to get himself in the right positions, and the intelligence to pick out a crucial killer ball.

He is 20 , if he isn't in the Chelsea 25 then he isn't good enough for them. He should be good enough for us at the moment though , so give him a try. He played for a struggling team last season and was possibly dragged down by that. However if we make a decent start it may encourage him to achieve his best form. Don't expect Maddison mk2 though, he is nowhere near that class.

KDB wasn't good enough for Chelsea, neither was Salah.

Just saying....

Yes, he could improve considerably or flat line like so many Chelsea youngsters. He will give us an option up front and we certainly need that.
