If you look at the stats you’ll see that we have started very strongly this term.

Today, we had 17 shots in total, with 6 on target and had approx 40% of possession. This is good for an away game.

Yes, they missed an absolute sitter but as soon as we scored, they didn’t look like replying.

As much as we look good going forward, I’m as pleased that we seem to have tidied up the defence. Faes was excellent today and I really like the look of young Doyle.

In the Championship, todays game was a potential banana skin. We came through it with all three points and didn’t really struggle too much imo.

On a day where Southampton lost at home, Birmingham beat Leeds and Middlesbrough got thrashed by the Cov scum, coming going to Huddersfield and collecting all three points indicates a pretty solid side who aren’t easy to beat.

And again, this is far more enjoyable than it was last season in the top flight.

Our defence is still weak, they had plenty of chances to score throughout the match. Cant rely on the opponent missing chances to win games, we need better defensive players.

They are a football team and we are in the second flight.

Of course opposition teams will create chances. They aren’t just going to roll over and die.

I can’t recollect them having many clear-cut chances though? That’s the important indicator.

Even if they’d have scored I’d have backed us to equalise though.

Do people really think we’ll just turn up every week, play brilliantly and walk the division? It seems like this is the mind-set of a lot of ‘fans’.
I suggest re-set yourselves and just watch us. As in, get the streams or attend the games. THEN start to consider whether Maresca is heading the team in the right direction.

I really do dismay sometimes over what I read on here. Have you learnt nothing from last season?

We ARE in transition.

It’s a TOUGH division.

Teams WILL score against us.

The important thing to ask yourselves is are we heading in the right direction?

From what I’m watching (so far), yes we are.

It's the vision of how we want to play that is refreshing. Yes, had we introduced this in the Premier League, it may well have resulted in two defeats now. However, there are several factors to bare in mind - had we still been in the Premier League the quality of players we would have bought to implement this style would have been superior to those we are looking at and buying now. Secondly, this gives Maresca the ideal opportunity to embed this system against teams who aren't going to steamroller us. If we are successful and are promoted, I think there could be quite a large turnover of players again to enable us to compete at a higher level, whilst still playing this brand of football.

Great post.

This system places a lot of pressure on the back 3 who have to be: (a) very good on the ball; (b) comfortable playing a high line and (c) pacy enough to cover the large area left behind them when the ball is lost on transition. Basically, you ideally need elite level CBs who cost £50m to play it really well, like Man City do. We don't and never will have CBs like that so we are going to look vulnerable defensively from time to time, I think. But the benefits of the system will hopefully outweigh this risk, as we will dominate possession for the most part and I think Enzo banks on our superior quality ensuring we outscore the opposition.

Yeah, sometimes it’s annoying seeing our lone striker 2 lines behind play making the passes, but then Vardy comes on and doesn’t touch the ball for 30 mins

...it would be good to get our #8s in on the end of moves, the wingers were wide on the touchline and stretched the pitch, just poor decisions in the last third that would have changed everything!!!

It is something that we have struggled with for ages, when Maddison was on it, he provided the openings for himself and others. I think Nacho suits a false 9 and he needs to be more aware of the opportunities around him and look to supply.

If Casadei does not come in, I would like to see Oscar Bobb come in as an #8 and develop chances from a central position as he will have willing runners on both sides. We were tossing balls into the area without any thought, just hoping someone can get on the end, and the crosses were not of a good quality.

Said it would be a tough game. Warnock is one of those battle hardened old  fossils who knows how to set a team up to be difficult. He did that. They were. They also worked hard. Tackled hard. Made too many chances for my liking and were unlucky to lose the game.

We played well. Showed spirit and heart. Something completely missing last season. THAT comes from the manager. We played our game in patches and some players did reasonably well. Overall I think we were at about a 6/10.

Tactical genius, play like the living dead for most of the match, wait until the opponents are lulled into sleep, then send someone who can`t shoot to shoot at goal, genius, 3 pts

I'm not a fan of the way we play. I guess, this is the evolution of Leicester football right now.

Harry Winks, signalling to the bench, whether Enzo wants a player on the floor, during a free kick. Makes me wonder, how much of the game have they actually worked on.

Job done. Onto the next game.

I’m afraid a lot of fans, just not thinking, were bigging up too many of our players (like Thomas, Amartey, Tete and Soumare) when it was blatantly clear they were nowhere near Premiership standard players.

The club got run into the ground by a management (and fan base) who felt that we had no chance of being relegated.

The chickens came home to roost and down we plunged.

Now we just have to hope that the rebuild brings dividends. So far, I suggest we are looking a strong squad at this level.

So basically, separate last season (long gone) from this and watch how we are doing NOW.
The stats suggest that Enzo has a good idea what he’s trying to do. But there will be pitfalls along the way…. It’s a tough division to get out of.

Not sure what as fans we can do but I feared our relegation right from summer we let fofana and kasper go, everyone banging on about ffp, don’t tell me we could not hve spent £20m and brought some fresh names in to see us survive. Stems right back to not strengthening in January on both seasons we had a chance of top 4, most could see it was needed

Swap out Vestergaard for JJ and that’s a bloody awesome team. Even before you add reinforcements. Bravo to Maresca for adopting a really clear identity so early on in a group of players who were on the floor last season.

Thought the ref was very lenient today, thought they left one on us time and time again.

Yeah, he could’ve easily booked any of their defenders for those niggly fouls they kept committing on halfway.

Decent win. 44 more. I still think a defensive pairing of Faes and Vestegaard is not that of a team capable of promotion. Both are incredibly mediocre and that’s being kind. The sooner Coady is back the better. Our defence in both games has looked shocking and we’ve need the keepers and luck to keep the ball out. Both need replacing.

September is going to be a big test for the team Saints followed by Norwich. Just keep winning and improving until then.

Faes is not mediocre at all.

Fair point, he’s a guaranteed a brain fart a game so probably just below.

I’ve been one of his biggest critics and was desperate for him to be moved on, but you’ve got to give the credit when it’s due…

He was very good today.
