Buzzing for Ade! What a performance from him today!

 

Sad we couldn't sign him permanently, he looked good here, but Gasperini has taken him to another level. Atalanta are a proper team with great fans, I hope they enjoy this win, they have more than deserved a big major after their efforts over the last 5 years. Congratualtions to them!

Thought about it a lot of times but I always come to a conclusion that there are more obstacles mostly related to the city. My impression is that we wouldn't be able to attract big names even if we had back to back Champions League appearances.

Great achievement by Atalanta, to win a major European trophy the first in their history puts the much bigger prestigious clubs to shame. This is what not so big clubs the likes of us(wishful thinking) should be aspiring to.

Atalanta were totally underestimated. Felt like a lot of the attention was on Alonso and the unbeaten Leverkusen. Rightly so to an extent but Atalanta had some quality results on the way too.

Thank goodness we aren’t going to have to hear about Leverkusen going unbeaten in all competitions.

Atalanta aren't exactly some fashionable club mind you. We were very comparable to them a few years ago, the difference is they kept doing things right. Even Congerton couldn't bring them down :D 

 

I'm glad this Gasperini era finally got a trophy and what a way to do it.

An unbeaten treble would have been the best footballing achievement of all time. I'm sad for them to have come so close. They've looked very leggy when i've seen them recently and they looked shattered last night.

 

Hopefully they win at the weekend to complete an unbeaten domestic double.

Agree. Would’ve been absolutely incredible. But for the sake of my sanity we’d never hear the end of it. Everything in the build up to the game completely overshadowed Atalanta as well.

On how he ended up signing Ademola Lookman in the summer of 2022, Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said: "We had a senior manager at Atalanta (Lee Congerton) who had worked at Leicester, who saw the opportunity to bring him in and thought he was a possible useful player.

"Nobody could ever imagine he could make this much progress. He wasn't overly prolific in England. I changed his position to a more attacking role.

"Tonight he achieved something which will remain in the annals of football history - a stunning hat-trick."

Possible Leverkusen ran out of steam for this, been a long season for them and perhaps this was one game too many. But still been an incredible season for the German side.
