I love how nobody knew him but we're pleased we signed him, then never rated him (as I recall people saying he's not better than Daka etc), not bothered he went out on loan and hasn't done anything at Stoke but suddenly scores 4 goals against one of the worse teams in the league and everybody loves him again.

Stoke have got Swansea, Sheffield United and Norwich this month. Those are bigger tests than Portsmouth, granted you can only score what's put out in front of you.

I know what you're getting at, but there were a decent proportion of people on here who wanted him to play more last season, based on his handful of matches, and thought he'd be a decent shout this season given we didn't think we'd be able to spend any money.

The weird thing has been that neither manager has fancied him whatsoever, to the extent cooper said we only had one fit striker (daka) when vardy was injured.

Perhaps he'll get another shot with us later in the season or next.

Both the goals from open play are such impressive finishes. I don’t know if maybe people think he’s only than he is because he’s still only 21.

I watched the parts of the game and Portsmouth really were horrendous but hopefully this now gives him a good boost.

Maybe it's cos he's getting regular football and finding his stride? :dunno:

I love how people project their own opinions as a factually correct history.

Absolutely loads of people were very impressed with him when he played last season and frustrated that he was the completed discarded when the other strikers were back. Then even more frustrated that he barely featured in pre season. Then again when he wasn't even involved in games when we had 1 fit striker.

How good he'll be, who knows but it's clear that his movement and finishing are outstanding and would have preferred him to stay here and actually get some game time ahead of Edouard/Daka (when he's back).

I seen enough in his mini run he had to know he’s a class finisher. Then Daka came back from AFCON and he got unfairly dumped. He should have been playing all that time Daka was stinking the joint out. I think he could easily go over 20 goals in championship if he gets a run.

He has always looked like he can slot goals in. I think the fact that so many teams wanted him on loan could have raised eyebrows and he should have had 2 or 3 starts pre season particularly with Vardy injured and Daka struggling.Just don’t think Cooper wanted to risk trying some youth as he is not the finished article. Hopefully he will come back stronger but he needs time in the team so that players play to his strengths

Enzo didn’t fancie him no idea why. We did give him a few games I think he scored 3 goals and look class. Then enzo dumbed him was just odd

Daka, Iheanacho, Vardy - don't think Enzo didn't fancy him, he just had 3 better strikers to pick from last season in a one striker formation. Would always be a struggle to give Cannon game time.

I don't rate Ayew and didn't want us to sign him, but Ayew has been playing at a higher level during this time and playing wide too. Cannon is up front in a Championship team.

People getting carried away here.

A very good point.

You do realise it was slightly tongue in cheek, I am a football fan as well so included with that, we're all fickle. Nobody on here posts "factually correct history". I wasn't implying the whole forum or ground did not rate Cannon.

No point in him having game time here and there. He's a young striker and needs to play every week. I don't rate our striking options but leaving Cannon the bench every week probably isn't the way to go.

Maresca didn't even play Cannon in the Championship so it seems particularly harsh going after Cooper now 😂

He did play a couple of games and scored and then Maresca did say he had a back problem so that's why he wasn't picked

He wasn't out all season though, he was available for 2/3 of the games at least.

What I liked other than the open play finishes was he looked a lot more mobile/dare I say able to get around the pitch.

If he keeps fit, bags 15+ goals then at worst we surely break even on the lad.
