Swarles Barkley Posted 14 September 2023 Posted 14 September 2023 Saints 1 Leicester 0 THB to score and get MOTM
Popular Post moore_94 Posted 14 September 2023 Popular Post Posted 14 September 2023 (edited) Enzo Maresca Pre-Match Press Conference vs Southampton Coady? “He has trained with us for the last days. He started to be better. Tomorrow he can be in the squad. Yes, but Conor is so important but even if he is not 100 per cent, it’s good to have him with us.” Other injuries? “No. Dennis is still out. Tom Cannon is out with some problems. I don’t know how long (Cannon is out for).” Daka? “He was one of the players who could leave but it doesn’t happen. Now he’s here and he’s one of the players. If we need him, we will use him. He’s a quick player, he can attack in behind. He can link in the way we want to play. He’s a complete player.” Reintegrating Daka? “First of all he’s a good guy. He’s always laughing and positive even if he didn’t play this year. Now the transfer window is closed, there’s no problems.” International break? “We had just 10 or 11 players so it was not easy to work on something, but we used the time to improve them and with some of them to try to improve some of the things we still need to improve like in the last third, the control of the tempo. I used it to review the seven games. Sometimes it’s the quality of the pass. If you see Callum pass, it’s a quick pass. The tempo of the game is because of the quality of the pass. We have improved in the transition. We concede less. These are normal things.” Southampton? “They are a good team. It’s so clear. They are looking for some things. It’s not still clear because they adjust a few months ago. They are looking for something. In time, they are going to improve and they are going to be up there at the end of the season fighting for promotion.” Start? “A few months ago these guys were relegated, but now they have won six out of seven. These players have started in the right way, very positive. They are doing an amazing job. But the reality is we lost the last game. We are going to lose games. It’s normal. I’m happy. We always see the reality when we lose. When we win, people get confused that it’s easy to win. It’s not easy.” Next two matches? “They are not so much different in terms of Coventry or Cardiff or Huddersfield. They use different weapons to hurt us, but for me they will be similar games.” Doyle? “I told him he has to score with us not with his international team! He’s a good guy, which makes it easier to work. He proved himself in the Championship last year. To make the big step, he needs to improve. But for 19 years old, he has reached many important things. He has many years in front of him. It’s good for young players to make the right path. For him and for me, it’s the perfect way. We’ll see next year (if he can play in the Premier League).” Edited 14 September 2023 by moore_94 8 4

It didn't happen, so now he will be reintegrated. No word on Souttar though... 25 minutes ago, moore_94 said: International break? “We had just 10 or 11 players so it was not easy to work on something, but we used the time to improve them and with some of them to try to improve some of the things we still need to improve like in the last third, the control of the tempo. It's the hardest bit to get right, but if he's focussing on this, that's great to know. 2

It's nice to hear a manager go into this kind of detail and identify problems we all have concerns about. Last season Rodgers seemed to relentlessly keep the opinion we would be okay despite all the glaringly obvious failures. 2 1

Sounds more like we weren’t going to dump £5m on a player who might leave and not add to his sale value - but now it will be factored into the allocated budget for purchases, and he needs to be showcased for January. 1

Would be amazed if anyone buys him while he's away at AFCON. Next summer is more likely imo. 2

Enzo is a project manager. If the club and him take time to explain the vision, what is and isn't working, people will be more likely to give him the time he needs. This is the start of a brand new cycle, we might get results but might not become genuinely good for quite a few seasons yet, good being defined as a team in the Premier League that can compete for top 7. I'm all for building up a style of play and a great team to watch, just treat us fans as intelligent and not morons please! 4
Clarkey123 Posted 14 September 2023 Posted 14 September 2023 It surely can’t be any worse than the one there earlier in the year. Can it? 1

oxtonfox Posted 14 September 2023 Posted 14 September 2023 (edited) I think the next two games will be tricky now. I think we will get 1 point from the next two games. We’re still in staccato mode and not quite stitching it altogether. Failing to create enough from the high possession rate and finishing are our major issues. A bit more composure is needed in front of goal also. I suspect Saints will play really well because it’s us. After the Norwich game that will be more difficult I think we’ll come back ok and beat Bristol City and then go on some sort of run. Patience is needed but we’ll be ok. onekeithweller Posted 14 September 2023 Posted 14 September 2023 Hi, I’ve got a social engagement tomorrow evening that I can’t get out of. Is it possible for me to download the match from Sky or Now Tv? Will it be replayed later that evening? Thanks for any advice.

Mr Weller 2 Posted 14 September 2023 Posted 14 September 2023 The bookies have saints as slight favourites but there’s not much in it and Leicester are still settling in new players so difficult to call.

We are going to batter these. Make them pay hard for 2 defeats last season. And yes I’m very drunk.
