Note that Coady tried that vertical pass into midfield (that Vestergaard does so successfully) in the first few minutes and executed poorly, leading to an early half-chance for PNE.

Don't think Coady tried it again

Pretty sure he cocked the same pass up twice but you're right it wasn't really attempted much.

Vesty, Faes, Coady.

JJ is clearly a more mobile option however at this level I don’t think is imperative. He’s clearly rusty and will take time.

That said, should we go up,  they will need replacing in their entirety. I don’t see them being fit for purpose in the PL. There’s clearly a gulf in quality between the two leagues. They sit in that black hole between the two. Fantastic resource in the Championship. Exposed in the Premiership.

Bit too soon to right off Faes at premier league level he's a Belgium International, still think he could come good at that level.

Hope Vesty back in, Coady seems less assured and passes arent as good.

Too early to judge I think, you couldn't reasonably expect Coady's to be as assured or passing to be on a par with someone who's played 10 games in a row. He's bound to be ring rusty, it's quite some time since he played his last real competitive game which would have effectively been last season!

Exactly this. Except I was always a fan and put my head on a block (counterbalance to that I'm wrong about many players, Macateer this season especially)

Faes is simply light years ahead of this level.

Yep, I remember you getting stick for backing him. He was fairly good last season but we didn't have a midfield and he was under pressure 75% of the time.

"He's too rash, scores loads of own goals, walking red card, slow blah blah blah", his ceiling is top half PL standard, maybe even higher.

Didnt say I did, but doesnt mean sentiment should be over who is playing sharper.

Sucks for him but probably best now if hes only in when Vesty banned, or late game sub.  If Vesty gets injured, off form or a long ban he gets games to play into form.

I have 100% confidence in Vesty and Faes is looking imperious, they are first choice with Coady as backup.

Vestegaard seems to be half decent at passing forward also, for me that's why he also gets in over Coady.

I still can’t believe I’m writing it, but I’d bring Vestergaard straight back in.

Coady only got in through a suspension, but I also agree with an earlier post about injuries. Coady has only just returned to the side so two games in a short space of time might be an unnecessary risk.

It’s a nice problem to have though

I noticed this too, like mentioned already I believe Coady is the better defender of the two, but I think Vestergaard is a better fit for enzoball.

I've been critical of him in the past but imho Faes is the best defender in the league at the minute

I’ve posted this photo a few time because it really does highlight the talent that he has.

Outrageous player that this level

Never thought I'd say it, but I thought we missed Vestergaard last night. Coady was good defensively and is a great organiser, but Vestergaard's technical ability on the ball was missing from the back against PNE. Faes is playing superbly too, so for me, at the moment, it's Faes and Vestergaard.

Agree. Jannick for all his other faults. Is a very good passer of the ball. Particularly between the lines. Which is really useful when the bus is parked

Personally I think Coady is going to get better and better. Let’s not forget Vesty and  Faes have had a 10-11 game headstart in match fitness/ sharpness and in playing this system. Give Coady ten more games and then maybe compare them..

There are going to be plenty of games or half games to play him in. Potentially he's a better player when up to speed so needs to play, possibly against lesser teams at first.

Coady at this point had played one competitive game under Maresca and that was away at Anfield! It is far too early to reach these conclusions!

Wouldn’t surprise me if he plays all 3. Like Pep does and play a CB left back. In possession we are pretty much a back 3 anyway with Ricardo going in midfield. Possibly Coady in the LB position.
