Leicester City are among the teams to have shown an interest in Bodo/Glimt midfielder Albert Gronbaek, as per Nettavisen.
Leicester City have enjoyed a fantastic season to date but they’ll be hopeful of strengthening where possible in January to bolster their promotion hopes. Despite back-to-back losses before the international break, the Foxes remain top of the Championship table, though they’re now tied on points with Ipswich Town.

The January window isn’t too far away now, so Leicester will have their eyes on potential targets. Now, claims of interest in Danish ace Gronbaek have emerged.

As per a report from Nettavisen, Leicester City are among those showing an interest in the Bodo/Glimt star ahead of January. There could be strong competition for his signature though.

Gronbaek, 22, returned 14 goals and eight assists in 46 games across all competitions last season. He’s managed four goals and an assist in the UEFA Europa Conference League this campaign too, with Norway’s Eliteserien yet to begin.

One to watch
Gronbaek has been among Denmark’s brighter talents for a while now. He started out in his native with Aarhus GF but has gone from strength to strength since joining Norwegian force Bodo/Glimt, tallying 20 goals and 11 assists in 66 games.

He mainly plays as a central midfielder but has been deployed on the wings and as a no.10 before, so he’d bring some versatility to Enzo Maresca’s Leicester City ranks.

The Championship is a highly competitive league and the Foxes should know they can’t rest on their laurels in the promotion race; the last two matches should have taught them that if they weren’t already aware. A move for a player like Gronbaek would really

What I'd like to know is how anyone can be bothered enough to find and make a cut up highlights video, but get the crop job on a still image so badly wrong.

Find clips of highlights and add to editor: 2 hours

Find clips of player running into a pitch or celebrating a goal, then applying slow motion filters and using them to fill the first 3 minutes of video: 8 hours

Listening to royalty free music on YouTube to find the worst possible song to use in the background of the video - 5 weeks

Make video thumbnail - 30 seconds

So is this an Ndidi replacement or are we sending Casadei back?

Could be that Praet goes. Not sure that Casadei will go back unless Chelsea or Casadei want him to get more game time elsewhere. I think Enzo will want to show faith in him.

Seems we have been looking at a lot of Danish players.

If this comes of we have signed 3,  Mads, Kristiansen, Gronbaek

The difference and risk here is that Gronbaek actually plays in the Norweigan league, not the Danish Superleague. Hermansesn was signed from Brondby and as we have seen has been fantastic. Kristiansen didn't work out but IMO he looked no worse than Thomas (though perhaps you could say looked no better either) and went to Serie A in a team doing well.

What's the standard like in Norway? There are some good teams, but as you will see from some of the clips below, some grounds and teams look amateur level at best!

That said, the league does have a good record at producing talented players that have proven themselves elsewhere. Haaland, Datro Fofana, Vetlesen, Boniface, Mannsverk, Petter Hauge and Mvuka are players you may have heard of that went to big clubs and have done alright for themselves.

In terms of there being interest, 100% you could see why there would be, because let's take a look at his stats:

And now let's compare his stats to one of our most important players:

EEBuism.png

I'm sure Enzo has asked the scouting department to identify players that fit the KDH mould and the data will have brought up Albert Grønbæk Erlykke of Bodo/Glimt. He was signed from the Danish league, so it's also possible the scouts had been following him back then too.

Mannsverk went to Ajax for 6M Euros, And even Datro Fofana went for "only" 12M Euro to Chelsea. So in terms of overall value, Scandinavian players score highly. They are also fluent in English, and are used to playing in cold and wet conditions. So if @Sly  thinks there is something in this, it's pretty easy to understand why. To be honest given the position we are in the league, spending 10M Euro on a very promising attacking number 8 with a high celing and resale value sounds like a pretty obvious thing to do.

I always pictured James McAtee playing for us next year and I can't see Sheffield United staying up. But hey we could always sign him and this guy, and it seems like we can sign this player now.

Did you actually say some Norwegian top flight sides look amateur at best? You're basing that on clips highlighting a player doing positive things, so chances are the opposition aren't going to look great.

He does actually look like a typical Maresca signing. Strong on the ball and has an eye for goal when given space. Might not get as much space over here. but he can pick a pass out too which is a definite positive.

Its a yes from me!

@StriderHiryu all good points, I think we need to take a few risk on promising players who can grow in the 5m-10m bracket.

A bit like Fatawu deal (if we achieve the conditions to make it a permanent).

We are still in the process of a massive rebuild, we are likely to lose Ndidi, Nacho, Praet and maybe Vestergaard on a free. Doyle and Casadei will probably return to their parent clubs.

So if we go up we probably need at least  CB x 2, 8 x 2 (Maybe 3 as they are massively important in Enzos system) CF (Maybe 2 if Daka leaves) and probably a wide player.

You could also say we need a Winks understudy.

That's a serious shopping list, we are going to need to find a couple of cheap rough diamonds.

In his defense I don't think @StriderHiryumeant he thinks they are amateur, just that you have to take highlights of players in some non-top tier leagues with a pinch of salt.
