LestaLad Posted 12 January 2024 Posted 12 January 2024 (edited) See Leeds picking him up. They wanted him before he went Sheff, and they now need a full back so would make sense. Edited 12 January 2024 by LestaLad

Cropwellfox Posted 12 January 2024 Posted 12 January 2024 Mutual termination is interesting language. Hopefully means we’ve got other plans for him. Anyone know if both sides need to agree to a termination of a season long loan?
Pliskin Posted 12 January 2024 Posted 12 January 2024 To be fair, I think we might be looking to sell him? Perhaps we’ve had an enquiry?

Mutual termination because Sheffield Utd have either agreed to taking Ward on loan or will cover Thomas's wages all season regardless.

Angus Scott Posted 12 January 2024 Posted 12 January 2024 Apart from the fact that he's not good enough, how does he get in our 25 man squad anyway when we have no vacancies?
Turtle27 Posted 12 January 2024 Posted 12 January 2024 He’s not very good and contract is up in the summer. No one will buy him, best we can do is loan to get his wages of the books. 1

He was hardly the biggest issue there and they are still going to be bottom at the end of the season with or without him. He needs to go somewhere where he can develop. The irony is that if he did somehow fit our system (which I agree he doesn't) then the way we dominate teams would have done wonders for his confidence. Fingers crossed the right move can be found for him. Would have been better with Sheff Wed instead of Sheff Utd. Needed a Championship or even L1 outpost where he could build up his physique and fragile confidence, like Chilwell, Hamza, Barnes and others before him. From our point of view we need him playing to at least put him in a shop window, if not for experience, so the mutual agreement is as much that if nothing else. If you're not playing him we'll send him to someone that will. But like others have said, he doesn't belong in this system, he's at best 3rd in line probably 4th as Enzo would rather spread the CBs than play a spindly left back.
James_lcfc Posted 16 January 2024 Posted 16 January 2024 So is it likely Sheff U will still be paying his wages until the end of the season? So then if we loan him out again we could potentially get the same again on top. We should do this with him every year! When the first club inevitably chucks him back, we just loan him out again. £££
