The case of Daka really shows what a bizarre industry football is.

In any other walk of life someone as incompetent, useless, out of their depth would be moved on or sacked.
If a surgeon kept killing patients in surgery or a teacher couldn’t actually teach kids anything you wouldn’t just jeep giving them chance after chance.

Where as we are forced to pay this frauds wages for another year even though he is worse than useless.
I would make the bloke work in the club shop at this point. He will have the same chance of scoring in there as he would on the pitch falling over his own feet.

Make it uncomfortable for him, try and force him out. Instead he gets to go to the most expensive health farm in Leicestershire every day for the next year free of charge and it counts as his work.

We have wasted some serious money over the last few years but this bloke takes the award for wasted money. Ironically the only award he will win.

The same applies to a point with any fixed contract -- senior execs, musicians etc,  If you want them you sign a contract with a fixed term and you are committing to paying them that.  Unless they breach that contract you are bound by it.  Daka has done nothing wrong apart from not be as good a footballer as we expected.

I'm pretty sure a combination of Houdini, David Blaine and Dynamo couldn't unlock his potential.

Well we know for certain that a combination of Rodgers, Smith, Shakey, Maresca, Cooper and RVN couldn't.

Maybe just maybe there's nothing to unlock!

Agreed.

His pressing game was significantly better than Vardy and I personally thought we looked better as a team / unit when he lead the attack.

His finishing has been so off though. After that goal against West Ham, I really, really wanted him to kick on, as he’s shown in patches he has the ability.

I’m not sure if he just needs a different environment to work in, or if Marti can unlock that potential.

Struggling to see any potential, complete waste of space

It’s not his fault we gave him a long well paid contract, he’s turned out to be a dud. The squad know he’s useless, he knows he’s useless but unfortunately he won’t be moved on until his contract runs out as no one will be stupid enough to pay his wages. Just one example of bad recruitment over recent years, he’s not the only one.

I can see him having a little purple patch at some point this season where he goes on a run of bagging 7/8 goals and then securing a pre contract move in January before stinking the place out again until he leaves in the summer.

just got to hope one of the promoted clubs or lower half prem team come in and offer £5m + significant add ons and take his full wages on.

What potential? He struggles to control the ball and he's 26.

As much as he can’t finish, his all round game has greatly improved from around the time Enzo came in really. Hold up play was really solid in the last pre season match, his issue is solely finishing.

I’d honestly still back him to hit double figures next season

Has it really though? His first touch is woeful. He very, very rarely uses his pace to create opportunities (that West Ham goal is the exception), his physicality is poor and falls over frequently (sometimes with a humorous dive) and he rarely stands up to any challenge with a defender.

His issue isn't only finishing, and somehow we seem to coached that out of him. And if he does end up on a half decent run ( you cannot dispute that period in the Championship where he almost had a goal contribution each game), his confidence get sapped the moment something doesn't go right. Leeds game in the Championship is a case in point - he never recovered from it that season, and has scored 1 goal since.

The one thing i have niggling in the back of my mind, is if playing 2nd fiddle to Vardy for so long has had a major impact on him and at times i just felt he would always step sideways for him rather than compete for his spot. With Vardy out of the way, is there an opportunity for him to be handed the responsibility and run with it. I'm not sure.

Respectfully, I genuinely can't see how anybody still believes this guy has any sort of potential.

Absolutely this. I still hear fans and people in the media even regularly talking about him like he's 19 and been with us a season.

Could we not just do what other clubs seem to do and sell them to a Saudi club for stupid money.

Not even the Saudi clubs can compete with Rudkin when it comes to wages offered lol

The confidence thing is a huge issue and that Leeds game is an absolute prime example.  Really odd as up to that miss in that game, he was actually playing well, had a great effort from distance saved and a perfectly good poachers goal ruled out.  It was almost as if those things going against him, took away his ability to slot home the easiest chance he's been presented with in a Leicester shirt.

Like I said in a previous post, I would love for him to come good and if he gets another opportunity to do so, i'd be very happy to see him take it with both hands.  Unfortunately, I just see so many deficiencies in his game at the minute, it appears he really needs to leave to have any chance of resurrecting his career.

I think regardless of his ability, we've seen good and bad from him (the bad just stands out more)

The fact that his confidence is so easily damaged is a massive red flag. You can't really carry a player that's going to turn into Ade Akinbiyi for 3 months because he missed a chance or something didn't go his way.

Whether that can be solved by better man management or some external help from a psychologist I don't know. But he too often strays into the category of "how is this man getting paid to play football?".

People would be really excited if we’d been linked with striker …..

Turns out he's a creator and not a finisher. We need to go full Joelinton and have him playing as an attacking 8 :D
