Does that mean his salary is now available? Will we have to pay him off? Or does insurance cover it? 🤔

His contract will surely have been paid up. No savings made, other than one less meal at the canteen and kit to wash

I assume insurance will cover the losses there?

Some online sources showing him as on £30,000 a week.

Surely not!?

Approximately £12m in earnings across his career. Admittedly, 247 apps for Huddersfield, 107 for QPR, but only 90 in the last 6 years.

Being a 3rd/4th choice keeper must be one of the most bonkers careers out there

The conspiracy theorist in me says they might have offered to pay him a % of his contract to get him off the books to free up money for wages?

Why would we pay someone's contract up who had to retire because of injury?

Would assume insurance, as it's injury related. Must have found something chronic that is too much of a risk.

A true great.

Now 3 spots in the squad available.

Shame we've only managed to move on who I'd imagine were our three lowest earners.

Yeah, but the line we've been fed is that we need to make space in the squad, not purely to save wages. But the goalposts seem to be shifting, again.

Unnecessary signing, as was pointed out at the time. What have we spent on fees and wages for Ward, Iversen and Smithies for 60 ish appearances?

I thought it was always that we had to sell players to make money.

Otherwise we'd have just deregistered a couple of Smithies/Ward/Iverson.

Don't have a go at the DoF though.

He just signs the checks, nothing to do with him

A true fans player. He played as many games for Leicester City’s first 11 as the vast majority of those of us who watch at the KP. A Leicester City footballer in touch with the common man. Thanks Alex

Usually for a retirement they pay half the remainder. Izzett told me this in the Fleckney chip shop car park the day before he retired. Efforts to find a bookie who would take a bet were, predictably, unsuccessful.
