Near faultless first half display from the lads, very impressed. Couple of lapses of concentration in the second half but easy to get complacent in first gear. Could of had plenty more. :appl:

We were absolutely amazing in 2013-14 but can't remember us having as many games where we just cruise through in second or third gear as we've had this year. 2002-03 was much more of a slog. Once the dust settles on this season I hope people will realise how remarkable it's been.

Enzo even admitted he didn't think we were great in the second half on Radio Leicester. Some people just want to jump on any slight criticism at the moment.

I'm a big fan of Enzo and have been complimentary of our style understanding we need to be patient at times. But it's OK to suggest the football wasn't the best when it's not the best.

We gave the ball up much to easily in the second half when if we had just believed in our passing we would have been much more comfortable in the second half

I agree with you here. I said further up, I don’t think losing the level of control we had in the first half was a plan (or at least not implemented as intended) by Enzo and I’m sure he’ll have told the players that. I think simply Wednesday upped their game and we didn’t need to extend energy doing more than we did.

But you are right about there being some very touchy people about at the minute and it is obviously the wording you used (I think turgid) that caused you to get jumped on.

I just don’t see how it needs to be criticise or justify and jump on the opposing viewpoint all the time. When commenting on a game, there are going to be positives and negative aspects to it but as long as that can be put across in a balanced and constructive way whilst appreciating the overall season we are having, it is part and parcel of a forum.

What I find crazy is that people will much rather focus on the second half than how incredible we were in the first, which I think was one of the most complete 45 minutes we’ve had.

Remember when we played Man City last season (Dean Smith first game). City bulldozed us first half and clearly coasted the second half. Only difference is we got a goal back (and could have got another).

People have been desperate for us to kill a game in the first half for ages. Then when it happens they complain. First half yesterday was the best i have seen us all season.

Maybe it's the four league titles and the three FA Cups.

Huge ground too.

Historically they're a very big club, and I don't see why admitting that should be a problem.

Doesn't mean they're a top club now. Preston, Wolves, Sunderland, Portsmouth... the league's littered with clubs who were once giants of the game.

But history still counts for something. It's all there is, really.

Last league title was in 1930 which makes them about as relevant as Huddersfield (also a very big club?). Last FA Cup 1935. I don't think that it warrants the high status in the modern game the commentator was alluding to.

Hey hey hey I'm not complaining about the performance at all. A win is a win and as I said the first half was stellar.

Doesn't mean the second wasn't turgid. We did what we needed to do. Not every game can be wall to wall amazing for 90 minutes and there is nothing wrong with calling out football which isn't great to watch when it's not great to watch.

Your post in the match thread and the one above shows that you are actually complaining, though.

Second half we just went through the motions because the result was never in question. Even when we essentially put almost zero effort in, they offered nothing. We were absolutely correct to aswell.

Before the season started people were saying how hard the championship is ( lol ) 2 games a week, it's relentless and demanding ect. Yet we're so superior in every way to any team thats played in this league before we essentially don't even really have to play the full game, keeping us fresher than everyone else and people complain still they aren't running themselves stupidly into the ground for 90 mins every game.

Look at the bigger picture

And we still drew the second half nil nil - so we should actually get four points for that match.

We scored early which settles everyone (even though the blueprint says we don't need an early settler, well get it done eventually anyway) but it was never going to be a 5 or 6 nil with their decent keeper, not with Beadle About, if you were quoted as being told otherwise then you've been framed, he's not just playing the game for a laugh.

Best half of football in ages resulted in 6 shots at home to Wednesday?

I genuinely feel like I'm a reporter in Jonestown :D  we're definitely at cult ideology levels here.

Lots of people saying how amazing we were in the first half. The teams who we have struggled against have taken up a high press (Leeds, Coventry). These teams who sit back and let us play might as well forget it. There is only one way to make us feel uncomfortable in this league and that is to put pressure on us from the first whistle, but we'll keep that quiet !!

Fatawu's performance last night was a real mixed bag. There were some excellent phases of play inside but at other times his passing and ball retention were horrendous. Infuriating at times but hopefully all part of his learning.

The run just before he was subbed typified it, there's a long way to go for him.

Agreed. He is clearly a raw talent that needs to be carefully nurtured. Enzo is clearly coaching him to improve his decision making and to add diversity to his play.

Performances and results like this have been vital to our success.

We’ve had more intense training sessions than the 2nd half. They could probably have played again today.

Should be nice and fresh for Saturday 💪

Would you rather we took 20 shots from the halfway line? Does that qualify as a successful half for you?

The system suits him more than anything Rodgers tried to get him to play. Gets to be mobile like KDH without needing to spray the ball around like Winks.

It's clear he'll need a run of games to prove - to himself as much as anyone - that he can stay fit and trust his body not to pick up some other strain or pull. Expect to see his run of not completing most games continue til he gets game fitness back.

Glad to see from a lot more fans,no longer jumping all over a player because

a few can feed & post unbalanced cynical remarks.

Praet is a decent player, Enzo has mentioned a couple of times on his importance

to the system…Praet came to us has a decent player he’s had a so or so indifferent

time with us..

Last season not the reason for our relegation…

This season positive runs in the side, more importantly his involvement around

the assists,he’s finding his positive place in the set up.

We see he flags after 70-75 minutes, that’s just building up a game fitness,to his

hard run he puts in, on & off the ball…

I like the guy, he now has to be pushed to see if his body can do 30+ games

in the Premier league,he could save us some money, and give him & family

a few seasons security…Plus a made to measure player for our squad, without

harming our FFP and a player with anewed motivation…

Enzo seems to have started out with the knack of finding little gems

and handling players and created and spread as yet through ALL the squad and Academy players an all round harmony & fired desire

I'm a massive fan of Fatawu but he has been a bit hit and miss recently. He seems to have stopped keeping defenders guessing by sometimes going outside and crossing with his right foot. He seems to be forever cutting inside and playing long passes/ crosses to the back post. Can only think this must be on Enzo's instructions. Earlier in the season, I remember something similar in the home game v Leeds when having absolutely murdered poor old Sam Byram in the first half with his speed, dribbling and trickery, in the second half he stopped taking him on altogether and instead repeatedly attempted crossfield passes to Stephy.

Indeed. It was inexplicable

Always grateful for the absolute shit finishing of teams in this league

They never really had a clear cut chance. A couple of blazes wide and a regulation save from Mads. Their XG could be no more than 0.5

Stoke also tried a press at home to us and lost 5-0

We would have missed cov for a rash challenge and the ref wanting to even things up....Leeds scum won but were hardly world beaters
