He's not good but he's probably the level we'd be looking at as a replacement anyway. If we were linked to sign the guy he plays centre midfield with at Sevilla we'd probably be excited. Selling KDH immediately when the window opens and Bouba in his place is a pretty likely outcome.

The finacial mismanagemnt of the club probably forces our hand here, plus the sickening wages we offered him means he's most likely here until the bitter end.

He was a decent squad player for a side that finished 8th and got to a European semi final. :dunno:

By the way, a quick look shows he played a total of 37 minutes in our Europa Conference campaign and they were against Randers! So it's a stretch to give him credit for that!

He's been poor.

A decent 45 mins spell against Wolves doesn't make him a good player.

He clearly didn’t/doesn't want to be here, only his 80k per wages brought him to city.

I've not seen anything to indicate he'd want to return and play for us.

Sell for the right price.

I can't wait for him to leave so people can stop kidding themselves that anyone will ever get a tune out of him here. He's rubbish.

Vestegaard Summer of 2023.

Ah you're right, Vestergaard being fine in the Championship means Soumare will flourish in the Premier League. Silly me for not stripping away all context sooner!

He doesn't have the effort levels required.

I can see him being a squad player next year solely cause we cannot offload him, but he will never make it as a PL player.

He’ll play two games under Maresca, not track back when he’s asked to and then spend the rest of the season as an expensive reserve.

How shit is it that players like him and VK essentially walk back in because of the state of our club? Didnt want to be here and got us relegated and yet still remain Premier League players.

Well done Jon, you ****ing imbecile.

Even if he comes good he's not a DM, he's fairly similar to Winks and the latter is far superior. He becomes a very expensive rotation option when we could actually recoup some much needed cash.

Dearly hope we sell him.

Pretty much this. Even if you do view things through Boubakary tinted glasses and think he's an "okay squad player" (he's not) the very stark reality is we simply can't afford to pay squad filler / back up anywhere near whatever he's being paid.

Although true a little harsh on VK at least he tried in the games he played for us.

Unless his attitude / effort has changed whilst on loan at Sevilla I wouldn’t want us to keep him

this is all about us  trying to drive up the price. Proving we won’t accept a low ball offer.

I would give him away to get him off the wage bill

Very much depends on a few things. We are going to be in a position where we've a handful of players still on £80-100k a week and yet a new structure of trying to recruit important 1st team players on half that.

Soumare will now be at a price left on his amortised transfer fee that if we can shift him on for £7m + save his wages then we are better off.

But we will not save his wages unless we pay off the difference between what someone will pay him after we’ve sold him and the 80k were contracted to for another two years

another issue with paying excessive salaries

Yeah possibly, it certainly won't be easy but not impossible (DOF dependent)

If we sold him for about 15m that would cover his amortised fee, plus wages. Might end up needing to be in instalments, but not impossible.

He's 25 and we bought him for about £17m.

He was very highly rated by a lot of teams not long ago, so may seem unrealistic, but if he keeps doing alright for Sevilla...a decent DOF (👀) would find a taker for him.

Something we’ll never find out …….

I watched him at the weekend against Ayoze’s lot and he looked slow, played simple passes the way he was facing and generally didn’t really doing anything significant in a league that’s generally much slower paced than ours. Certainly he isn’t an alternative to KDH as has been mentioned on here. More like a back up to Winks who’s not likely to push him to start in the pivot role. Personally I’d sell him even if it means taking a hit on his original cost.

I have never understood his purpose in this or any other team. He is not a DM, I can't see him as cover for Winks and he is certainly not a 10. What does he give to a team? There must be something seeing that people keep paying him to do whatever he does.
