I’d be tempted to start him at Old Trafford. He’s shown KDH like qualities over the past couple of games. We have enough depth in the middle of the park to make the gamble in case it doesn’t pay off come the hour mark.

I’d say a bit more technical than KDH. And he doesn’t work as hard as KDH off the ball.

Feel like he’ll have given Cooper a decent selection headache. Assuming we stick with a midfield 2 it’s between him, Skipp, Winks and Ndidi. Feel like all four have their own qualities and honestly not sure what the best combo is.

I've seen the false hope of Soumare before. But yesterday he looked hungry.

Personally thought Winks was off it yesterday. Possibly give Soumare a go with Ndidi again?

The most aesthetically pleasing footballer IMO is a 6'2 - 6'4 midfielder who's technically phenomenal and a physical monster. That's why I loved Paul Pogba and Yaya Toure so much because they were exactly that. Soumare will never be the level of those two but the basics are there for a coach to work on.

I'd stick to potentially bringing him on.

This could be a new Soumare as he's at the point of needing to put performances in to get his move away.

Although I think he's stank the place out it could possibly be a win / win as he could be a good asset based on the last 2 performances and we may able to offload back to the continent for a price similar to that we paid for him.

I think his contract expires in 2026.

Just wouldn’t work. I don’t think any of them can receive the ball like Winks does and play with that composure. These two are obviously more suited to pinching the ball and running at teams.

If he puts the performances in, does he get a move away?

yes and it could help with PSR. his book value is around 7m so anything above that is profit as far as PSR goes. if he puts in competent performances then 10-15m should be achievable.

I guess what I'm getting at it is that if he does come good for us is he someone we realistically want to sell or dare I say it, extend?  If he's doggo or a bit parter that's done well in cameos like yesterday, then yeah sell.  If he becomes an integral player for us, unlikely as that seems, then don't we extend rather than sell given the low fees continental clubs pay and the fact you'd have to replace him anyway?  If he doesn't want to stay then it's a non-issue, you sell.

Hopefully this is a legit problem come the end of the season.

sell regardless. the way we avoid situations like the summer where we're relying on lawyers to avoid points deductions is making sure we're maximising the money coming in, and for a club of our size is making sales. the season we signed Soumare was part of the problem (big outlay with no income to offset it) but Daka and Soumare at least fit the buy young talent and sell it on after a few years model. we then proceeded to let several tens of millions of assets completely depreciate (Youri, Cags and co) and we need to not make those mistakes again. Does it mean accepting ourselves as a Brentford or Brighton, a stepping stone to top six clubs, yes, but that's better than becoming a financial mess constantly flirting with the drain like Everton are and we're in danger of becoming

I've always said that Soumare if anything has the skill set to be an attacking midfielder. Strength, a bit of pace, and some technical ability. But he's clueless defensively and doesn't read the game properly. There's ability in the lad. But no idea how you best harness it in a team structure.

Agree. Keep giving him 25-30 mins as he has to put himself on the shop window. Never know, he might actually start to enjoy his football again. If we break even on him (amortised of course) then thats a job well done.

Nah, a 5’9 skilful midfielder with bags of tricks, outwitting big muscular 6 footers does it for me. Each to their own 😀

It's likely mostly going to be one of Winks/Skipp and Soumare/Ndidi.

Minus the games where it's winks, skipp and Ndidi

I think we've got to give him a try against Utd .

He showed what he can do, He just needs to do it consistently.

I think he's one of those players who perform better with encouragement.

I'd play him in the NDiddi role on the left where he doesn't have too much responsibility. With Facundo and Winks

behind them both.

Fair play to Cooper if he's finally the man that's made Soumare realise he's a f***in unit lol

Few decent cameo's recently, he's probably earned a start, let's be fair. Cooper is gonna pack the midfield and look to counter, so if Soumare can be that guy to carry the ball forwards at place then he could really start to turn around his time here.

Not gonna hold my breath but it's nice to see glimpse of what we paid £20m for.

we’re losing to man u either way, worth a try, see if he can build on this momentum.

Id love it if our fans showed him some love and we see if we can get more from him
