The revival did start under Coops. Remember when he brought him on the first game - we were all livid.

I think it was either Coady or Vardy who said he was tearing it up in pre season training. He just came back from Spain with a whole new positive mindset and now plays like he wants to dominate the midfield.

Something I've noticed about Bouba is that he's far more effective in winning challenges when he's moving forward, when he's pressing than he is when he's tracking back or matching a runner.

That could be ideal as a partner for Ndidi, who is the opposite and is much more efficient in tracking, blocking and getting a leg in the way.

These two, either side of and behind Bilal could be an effective combination.

I had been thinking this but couldn’t express it as well as you have. An in form winks still has a lot to offer in transitioning the ball ball from defence to the offence but soumare and ndidi together could be just what we need at the moment. Having Bilal provides that creative link. And he runs his socks off too. Our wingers tend to tuck and come inside naturally to provide that box midfield anyway.

I really hope he doesn't drop him upon Ndidi's return.

Got to be both of them at the expense of Winks for me. Winks is tidy on the ball, but he's so negative. Very rare do you see Winks make a cutting pass. The reason he's got a good pass rate is because they are always risk free 4 yard passes.

Vital part to play in both goals. He breaks the lines on both occasions with a pass/run. We’re finally seeing what he’s capable of. He just needs a goal.

Tielemans is actually a really special unique type of player. Not sure there's too many similar to him. Very very underrated

He was uniquely bone idol when he was here for the last couple of seasons!

It’s a shame Susan Whelan has monopolised ‘Big Sue’ because Big Sou is very fitting for Soumare at the moment. He’s verging on unplayable at times. He’s like a new signing and we’d be ****ed without him this season.

He was the same last season, I really couldn't understand why everyone was hyping him up so much, first 15 games he was playing really well and looked a good buy, the following 30 games he was bang average he just looked good because he was integral to Marescas horse shoe system.
3946 passes attempted, 2342 of them were siteways, less than 200 were "long" passes.
3074 passes were sideways or backwards, that's 78% of his total pass attempts. He kills any momentum.

EDIT: Added this seasons stats for comparison:
859 attempted passes
303 forward, 94 backward, 462 sideways. 66% sideways or backwards. Long pass accuracy down to 53%.

Depends on the system.

If you’re looking for ball retention and want to pass a team to pieces so they’re chasing a game, he’s an exceptional player. This is why Maresca loved him and he’d be great for someone like Pep.

If you want a quick back to front counter attack, he’s just not going to work.

Horses for courses.

I will say, if he has better players around him

then he can progress the ball like El Khannous, then he’s a safer pair of hands than Ndidi when in possession.

Soumare brings a balance but is pressing higher up the pitch. He’s just not very good once the game goes past him.

I know it seems a weak comparison but he is very pogba like in his style. The question will be if he can step up to be the second coming of yaya toure

We really miss a player that can actually turn with the ball like Maddison or Tielemans rather than sending it backwards constantly.

Get rid in the summer whatever league we are in

This 100%

He was absolutely muck today yet it’s quiet on this thread.

He doesn’t score, doesn’t create nor offer a defensive presence….a YouTube player that can do one with the majority of the spineless bunch of to55ers.

Started to give 10% after giving 5% and people started to get carried away by his ability/interest/work rate. Pathetic footballer. Another I genuinely can't wait to leave.

First goal gets bullied in the Ariel duel (no idea how the stats say he won 2/2 today unless they don't count in the first 10 seconds).

3rd goal their midfielder has all the space in the world. You can see he's on his heels marking thin air.

Awful signing from the get go.  In 5 years we'll look back and compare him to the likes of Junior Lewis and Elvis Hammond. The worst part....it'll be on the day the club announces a new 3 year deal !

Soumare at Lille had Benjamin Andre alongside him, one of the best defensive midfielders in France in terms of tackles, interceptions and duels.

What he needs is Ndidi at top form alongside him.

A combination of Soumare and Winks just doesn’t work in the Premier League, they just don’t have the defensive nous to protect a back four.
