He's in the last year of his contract, nobody's going to pay a fee for him. He'll go on loan next season and then leave for free. We seem to be specialists in that.

I go back to my post in the PSR thread, but another danger of signing players for big money on big contracts is that when they underperform you can only move them on to PL, a handful of elite European clubs and Saudi clubs. The selling market for expensive flops is so small. How many times have we struggled to shift high earning players on? Another reason why it was suicidal to break from the model that had served us so well.

Yeah it was the season they famously almost got relegated. So Soumare's last three seasons when he's played a good chunk at the heart of the respective teams have been:

Relegated

Almost relegated

Relegated

To be fair didn’t they finish 4th from bottom this year too?

I think people's heads were turned by this.  Ritchie De Laet helped us win The Premier League.  It doesn't make him a world beater.

I remember asking people who were getting very excited by this transfer,  what kind of midfielder is he?  Is he a defensive midfielder?  No, not defensive.  I mean he doesn't tackle and it turns out he has zero awareness too.

Is he a playmaker with an eye for a pass?  No,  not that kind of midfielder.

Then he must be a creative, goal scoring midfielder?  Well, no, not one of those, he has only ever scored one goal and that was more than six years ago.  He doesn't trouble himself with assists either.

So what does he do?  Apparently he's quite good at 'progressing the ball' up the pitch.  We have seen little evidence of this, but anyway, this is not NFL.  We don't measure players in yards and anyway the best and quickest way to 'progress the ball' up the pitch is with a pass in my view.

Even now, he has his apologists, 'pace of the league....blah, blah blah'.  Before that 'homesickness' was the reason that he was incapable of tracking a runner.

Spot on. If anyone needed a prime example of just how far we have fallen, it was getting excited by Soumare moving the ball up the pitch a bit against Ipswich to earn us a point against ten men.

It isn't just him, but the lack of effort he has off the ball cost us countless amounts of times. Non negotiables is a buzz term at the minute and he doesn't do them. Any self respecting club or manager wouldn't pick him based on that alone. Sadly we've had to. He could have the talent of Kante, but if he's not willing to give everything then get rid. Same can be said for so many of them. We are the absolute pits.

You're just not enlightened enough to see how brilliant he is!

People are wedded to the idea of him rather than the reality. It's why the very occasional glimpse of quality is treated as some sort of uptick.

He's a bad player. I can forgive signing him. I saw some logic at the time. I can't forgive him still being here - and as I said months ago, his ascent into our team was less that and more our teams descent.

Maybe we can loan him out to Sevilla again...

Mind you the last time we did this I remember reading a tweet from a confused Sevilla fan who asked "is this how a footballer performs these days?"

There’d be plenty of takers in France now with what he’d cost but I have a feeling we never proactively try to sell players.

You never really hear the press briefed trying  to drum interest.

I'm still of the belief that he is the singular worst signing in Leicester history. The money wasted on him in fees and wages is a scandal.

No offence, But you haven't been around here long enough.

Recently, Ward comes to mind.

I dunno, Patson Daka is giving him a run for his money.

How about Trevor Benjamin  or Junior Lewis,  both have got to be worse surely?

They were both not quite as bad as Soumars and cost peanuts even allowing for inflation.

Wise. Dennis, that is. Absolute charlatan who came here for a well-paid career warm down, & managed to fall out with just about everyone else here at the same time. As has been said by others, he could start an argument in a phone box!

Outrageous projection coming up. Brace yourselves. I’m going to speculate that if he’s here and plays a full season next year; he’ll be in our top three performers in match day ratings. (I’m now going to leave the forum for a few days whilst the haters hate).

Trevor Benjamin at least tried, if he didn’t have the skill.

Junior Lewis was Turd but he was mates with Taylor. And i think he cost about 50K
