JimJams Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 (edited) A couple of seasons ago Adam Armstrong scored more goals than Szmodics has in this. And he's shit at Premier League level. Just because SS has done well for 1 year at Champ level doesn't mean he's going to reproduce that at the elite level. And at that money, at his age, the thought of signing him should be a fart in the wind. Edited 14 May 2024 by JimJams 4
sdb Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 I'd pay £10m happily. Or work in Cannon into a deal. He'll succeed in the prem, I'm pretty certain. 1
Popular Post Finnegan Posted 14 May 2024 Popular Post Posted 14 May 2024 Genuinely can't believe people would pay 10-20m for a 29 year old with one good season. **** sakes, you're all the people that wanted us to pay £30m for Troy Deeney. We don't even play a 10. We got Hermansen, Mavididi and Winks for less than the price of Szmodics. Fatawu is going to cost us less than Szmodics probably will. Do you want us to go straight back down? I mean, I'd have him for his actual market value - ~£5m. But beyond that? Get ****ed. 17 1
James_lcfc Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 Surely they’re never going to get £20m for him!? Price would need to be less than half of that.

Nalis Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 He will be priced out a summer move and someone like Forest will panic buy him for £15m in January. 1
FoxinNotts Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 31 goals in a season from the attacking midfield position is outstanding. I do think he could play well as a number 9 in our system
DerbyshireFox Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 I like him, think he could be great for us, but £20m is very steep given his age.
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 Gives me Jordan Rhodes/Teemu Pukki vibes no thanks 2
moore_94 Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 No thanks, especially if he is going to cost £20m Turns 29 in September so he is going to be after the first/last BIG contract of his career

ozvaldo Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 Looks like he’s on about £15k/week. We can double / triple that easily without it being an issue for us. If we could get him for around £10m (he’s worth about £5m on average according to various sources), surely that’s a no brainer for both him and Blackburn. Give them Cannon or Alves on loan too. Can’t see us offering £20m for him. Surely even Rudkin has learnt his lesson now. 1
Stopharage Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 This way madness lies. Every time I wonder how Rudkin can be such a poor operator in the transfer market, I'm then reminded that loads of our fans are equally clueless. £20m for someone with one decent season. In the league below. We're looking down the back of the sofa for spare change to buy players and people think this would be a good idea?
Sly Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 He reminds me of Craig Mackail-Smith. We wanted him and he had a few good seasons but was largely average. If we pay £20m for him, we have learnt nothing. 1
Sly Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 Just to put his goals into context, so it’s not masked by what you saw last year. 117 Championship games, 38 goals. 195 League One / Two games, 54 goals. He’s not a forward and for £20,000,000, I’d rather we hunt elsewhere for someone that can provide upscale value. 3
StonyFox Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 No thanks. He's had a (one) great season, but spending big money on players his age isn't going to help us financially
Pliskin Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 Absolutely not. 29, only one good season to his name, unless it’s for peanuts I’m not interested. Would be a completely stupid signing for £20m……. It’s rarely ever worked before when this kind of risk is taken.
Jaspa Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 Thought he was out of contract. Obviously untrue, wish I'd check before relaying these things
Pliskin Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 Instead of wasting time with this, we should be looking at Norman Bassette.
adam Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 God no. Coming up to 29 and has had one good season In the championship. Young and hungry talent we want not this.
Kinowe Soorie Posted 14 May 2024 Posted 14 May 2024 I like the look of him. People saying about his age? We have a 37 year old who still bangs them in.

But that 37 year old is of the best in premier league history. This lad has had one decent season……. It’s a none starter and hopefully a load of rubbish. This would be a horrible signing. 4
