Thought he was MotM today and pretty consistently looked a class above. As he should you could argue but it’s not always that easy. Think him, JJ and Page could make a really balanced midfield 3.

Saw a post claiming he was league two level early on in the match thread, ironic as he ended up showing in that game the difference in levels. Far more intelligent than anyone else on the pitch.

You often find that people just regurgitate the DoxesTalk groupthink dogma…. It’s infuriating!

Skipp has been doing really quite well in his recent run of games.  We are fortunate to have him

lol

That's a stretch. He might not be as bad as when he first started, but he's still a very limited footballer with few major strengths to his game.

Yeah, for all that he's definitely improved I'm a little surprised by some of these comments. It's not really anything to do with the price, more that he's been here for something like 16 months and has been absolutely shit for all but about one of those. Nothing against him personally of course and if he can keep getting better then that'll be brilliant for both us and him, but I think it's a bit early for this "always rated him, where are the haters now????" stuff.

Not sure anyone’s really said that, think we all unanimously thought he was dogbob about 2 months ago lol but no doubting he’s put some consistency together in that time.

Consistantly average. Slightly above average against Derby away.

Is anyone still clinging on to their irrational dislike of the lad, all because of a fee over which he had no control?

He's a very likeable player. And we saw a rare 9/10 performance today. Haven't seen any of our players put in a 90min performance in a long time, at any level.

You’ve not watched Jordan James then? He’s been putting in games like that all season.

Skipp did well today but he was playing against League 2 opposition. He needs to consistently stand out and influence games at Championship level. His fee is irrelevant but it’s not irrational to expect a player of his reputation to be better than he has been for the vast majority of his time here. Skipp is an honest lad and i don’t think he’d disagree with the idea that overall he has underwhelmed in a LCFC shirt since he signed.

What are we judging Skipp by? If its anything before 2023 standards of course he's shit, if we are dealing with reality that we are in 2026 and the last 3 years have happened, he's probably 3 or 4th name on the team sheet for me, that's where we are.

Take Jordan James out the picture, I know they play in the same position but JJ is clearly our best player, where are you ranking Skipp of our normal starting 11? for me he's better than Thomas, either GK as neither have impressed for long enough, Ayew and Okoli

he presence in the the side is slowly growing game by game and he's established a very good partnership with James

What’s interesting with Ollie, is when we win and we play well (or certainly play well in one half) quite often he is one of, if not the standout player on the pitch. When we lose, I don’t ever think (apart from start of the season when he was playing with Winks) that he still doesn’t really have a bad game. Once we get our act together properly he will be really important for us I feel. Could be big for us next few seasons. Attitude it second to none as well which is noticeable and why we are buying into him

It’s a stretch that we are fortunate to have him?  Did you forget which league we were playing in?  Or do you still think we are in and around top 4 or 5 prem?

Why not read what people have written?  Who’s actually written anything even approximating to  ‘always rated him’ in the last few pages?

‘He’s been pretty good recently’ is the general theme…. At least try to disagree with something that that actually being said…

We were very, very unfortunate to have Oliver Skipp because to have him cost us 25 million quid.  Nothing fortunate about that.  You can't say we're fortunate to have him while ignoring the cost of having him.  A hall of famer among the long list of recent disastrous signings.

We should also remember that he was signed to play in the Premier League.  Thanks Steve!  How fortunate we are!

It's an exaggeration yes - well spotted! Any more of an exaggeration than characterising negative posts about him as "irrational" and "regurgitated groupthink dogma", I'm not sure, particularly when I don't think anyone actually dislikes him particularly. People criticise the club for the signing and him for his performances, which have largely been very poor. Now he's playing better, which is good and something I hope continues.
