Okoli isn't in the group for me, neither is Ayew as frustrating as he can be.

Fair enough.

For me, both of those were signed to play in The Premier League and both. were found wanting.  In fact, both have been found wanting at Championship level and for that reason they can't be anything other than bad buys  imo and belong on the duds list.

I’m not having that Skipp is the worst or top 5 worst signings we’ve made 🤣

Unfortunately he comes with the price tag, which is nothing to do with him. That’s on us and our poor control of finances, we all know he isn’t worth that amount of money but for some reason we decided to pay it, also at a time when money was tight

He’s limited to what he can do but I think he makes an impact, he’s versatile and seems to have remained professional.

There’s players in this current side who cant play, can’t run or quite simply CBA that I’d be pointing the finger at first for being labelled as a worst signing no matter how cheap or expensive of a signing they were 🤷‍♂️

The price tag has to have a bearing on whether a signing has been a good buy or not, regardless of the fact that the player didn't set the price.

Comes across as a very reserved character. I wonder if having Winks out of the way has lifted the shackles in Skipp. I’d also hazard a guess that James doesn’t take any shit off anyone so has lifted the levels

I understand what you’re saying but I think that is more of a reflection on the club more so than the player

If we signed a player for cheap and he was poor then we’d likely be more accepting and less likely to call him one of our worst signings. Majority of the names that get branded through our history tend to be the ones that have came in with a price tag when we’ve had players just as bad forgotten about due to transfer fees

Well yes, so a poor player signed for a low amount is not as bad a buy as a poor player signed for a large amount.  Stands to reason.

Context is also important.  Silva for instance was a dreadful signing, but we got away with it to an extent.  Ward was also a dreadful signing but his calamitous displays caused us deep and lasting damage, hence, he was a worse signing than Silva despite having been signed for a lower fee.

Had he been cheap, he wouldn't have been as bad a signing. If we're just talking about how good he is as a player then I agree it's fair to take the price tag out of the equation - when we're talking about how good a signing is, value for money and thus the price tag is a pretty significant part of that.

only player with any credit today

He was as bad as everyone else in that first half. Anonymous and gave the ball away. In the second half he was much better but the game had gone, QPR had put their feet up and he still managed to get Ricardo booked with a hospital pass.

Funny how little to zero credit was given to Skipp for last night.

I thought he had a very solid game, a couple of times he showed a bit of bite to win the ball.

He’s a much better productive player when the defence aren’t inviting the press and causing their own problems by passing backwards under pressure. With a player in his role, if he’s not being mentioned he usually had a solid game.

Doesn’t influence the game enough for me. He got better in the second half but doesn’t see the ball enough to justify a concrete position in the starting team. He starts because there’s no one better available in the squad but for me it’s where we should be looking to strengthen, either through a signing in January or even welcoming Braybrooke back to give him some competition.

Skipp isn’t irreplaceable but so many other positions are more important - CF, LB and RB as Ricky isn’t the long term answer, all spring to mind before needing to replace Skipp.

He's limited, but a proper grafter. We play with two so called 'tricky' wingers and also Bobby in the hole. So Skipp rightly focuses on the dog work. Which he is generally tidy at. I do however agree that when time/space allows he should try and move it forward a bit more. Rather than routinely shuffling it lateral.

He will never justify his price tag but we need to move on and ask if he can do a job for us in this league.  For me the answer is yes if he is paired with a more creative player like JJ.

I like that he puts himself about more now.  One time in particular last night their winger was heading down our left and you could see Skipp lining him up from 10 yards away.  I said to my daughter, “he’s ending up in the stands” and sure enough …

Skippy rarely started for spurs, being subbed on as an afterthought and largely left out altogether. He was always gonna take a little time to warm up for us, especially as we used him randomly l. Can only be judged after an extended run of games. Thats why Daka needs selling on because he's had lots of chances and can't cut it in the English game.

Hate to break it to you but that's pretty much been every player in the existence of this football club.

Understand the point on his lack of on the ball influence but you're comparing Apples (Skipp) to Oranges (Winks). His role whilst the deepest is to cover defensively and help move the ball on when he can, whereas Winks' was to dictate play. Reality is, he's having far more influence on the game than Winks has been doing this season, by doing his main job
