If he can continue coming on and being impactful, then I'm all for it.

But when we need fast starts, and attacking play as opposed to chasing a game, I still don't think he's the answer.

Starting Fatawu and Mavididi allows us to at least try and be on the front foot. If I'm an attacking right-back and seeing that I'm up against Ayew to begin with, I'm loving life.

He’s definitely a player to bring off the bench later in games rather than a starter.  I don’t think it’s any coincidence that he’s made his two most meaningful contributions playing this role

Is it just me or is it just his natural demeanour but he always looks completely f*ucked after playing, even if it's just the last 10-15 mins, like yesterday again.

He's like one step away from a mobility scooter or just so ****ing cool and chilled he'd make a sloth sweat.

I'd hate to go on a ramble with him, it'd take days!

I don’t  think the intention was for him to come to come in and be a nailed on starter. If he keeps doing what he’s doing.. maybe start a few away games then I will remember him as an excellent piece of business , for the situation we are in.

Showing exactly why we needed a player with proven PL experience. I agreed with Cooper's post match comment, if that chance falls to one of the younger less experienced lads then I'm not so sure they score.

I think inflation has had a huge impact on people's expectations. £5m sounds like a lot of money, but in reality it's probably the equivalent of a £1.2m player circa 20 years ago, which considering we paid £1.1m for Graham Fenton in 1997, £1.3m for Trevor Benjamin and £3m for James Scowcroft in 2000, along with countless others around that time who were all relatively average players, it's not the worst bit of business the club has ever done.

When we went down 2 seasons ago you look at defining games and Everton at home when Maddison missed that pen, ultimately cost us

If we stay up this season,  you will look at games where we gained points fortunately and this will be one of them.

So far his been a decent bit of business

And Soule still hasn't scored or assisted for Roma this season.

Great skill to take the ball is his stride at full pace , and a very cool finish Thierry Henry esque..  he was well liked at palace. Two late saving goals of against relegation candidates.

Some people are hard to please !!

Strange timing for that comment since the comments after yesterdays game are almost overwhelmingly positive.

Quite a few suggest he’s not a starter but, as his best contributions have all come from the bench, I’d say that there’s currently some logic to that argument as well

He's probably made the most impact of any signing in the summer so far to be honest. He's a good player to bring on. I think a lot of the criticism made sense - I maintain we're the only club in Europe who'd have paid as much as we did for him at his age and I don't think he should be starting games, but he's definitely got his uses and he's come up trumps in our two biggest games of the season so far both in injury time. It's hard to knock that really.

That's why I used the term " some" people.  He is clearly winning over most Level-Headed folk despite arriving to a lot of negativity.

There were a couple of other teams interested by sounds of it and the amount we paid is literally nothing. You think of the likes we paid for Daka and Soumare etc, well you could make a pretty long list last few years. It's genuinely one that's already paid off even if he got injured for a year. People are creaming themselves about one bit of play from Soumare in 3 years for all he's cost.

love that the run he makes is demanding the ball without needing to say a word. No hesitation at all and someone as experienced as vardy didn’t blink to return that

Great chant for the big man…. I think at the start it sounded a bit ironic, but he’s now owning the constant chant even when he’s on the bloody bench!

Those talking about the fee just haven't adjusted their mindset to 2024 transfer fees.

Good post above comparing it to 1m signings from back in the day. It's exactly like that.

4 points (that he has won us now) is absolutely huge for our survival hopes. It's quite obvious he has already proved his worth and will continue to.
