Thing is as well, we wouldn't need to replace him. Coady, Nelson and Okoli more than enough. We could wack these funds towards a striker or 10 for a real signature move.

I think I probably agree, although I wouldn't say he's as good a defender as I'd hoped. Looked great last season, but I do remember him being a bit suspect at PL level. Which, for the time being, is where we are.

 

As @Ric Flair has said, if we replace him with a decent, genuine left footed centre back, I'd be okay with Faes leaving. Should be £20m minimum though.

I think we would if any of those got injured with Coady already injured then doesn't give us a lot of cover

I know it's early in his career, but I would love to see Nelson break through. I think he has so much potential. And he's both footed, I believe?

is he a good player? I assumed he would be trash if they were trying hard to get rid but they obviously have other quality options.

Knowing us though, we’ll probably replace him with someone like Michael Keane on loan.

Faes has played on the left in the first two games and will continue to do so whilst Justin is on the right. That way Vestergaard has pace on both sides of him.

Never taken to him. He's not a dreadful player but I like my centre backs to be reliable.

 

A shame this didn't happen at the start of the summer, but it would fit Faes' playing style to leave it til the last minute then scramble manically to get it done...

Wouldn't be a huge issue if we hadn't spent years accumulating bang average CBs. If we can get in a decent replacement without a negative PSR impact then it's a no brainer.

When assessing CB I always do the NP rule of thumb, would NP buy them?

 

Faes is a Sol Bamba type, which NP soon moved on.

Hoping the Okoli signing was with Faes’ departure in mind at the beginning of the window when the Barca links were popping off. If that’s the case we are shot of one average centre back (albeit are best one) and we can use the dough to chuck on a striker and a 10. Greek lad and Bilal to come in and Faes to leave would be perfect.

Theres no chance in hell with rectify out dodgy defence, so we may as well chuck our eggs in the attacking basket.

I know people will rub their hands and jump on the anti Wout bandwagon. But remember the praise he got for Spurs performance. He's a capable defender that blows hot and could. With periodic brain farts. But you only sell if you need to or believe you have a better replacement???
