If the edge of the rug is the offside line,  is my foot playing someone onside? No, but the image angle from above makes it look as if my foot is over the (rug) line. It was the same with Justin, his leg is in the air but not actually over the line drawn. Bollocks decision.

They won’t acknowledge anything on this one

they’ve already tweeted the evidence and they’ll stick with that

dermot will be on ssn in the morning to say that it looks iffy but the tech is sound. That it’s an optical illusion. The two scousers will say that they’re amazed it’s onside but we have to accept the tech is correct because we don’t have any angle that shows it isn’t

Well then Surley if they don't really no they go with the on field decision instead of overruling the linesman

There's no angle that conclusively shows it onside, or offside for that matter. The only one with an good angle was the linesman and he got overruled.

It reminds me if the Newcastle v Arsenal match last year when the winning goal was looked at for the ball potentially going out and then a potential offside, and the a potential foul. The foul is subjective, so no issue with that, but the ball going out and the offside aren't subjective, they are absolutes. The ball is either out or not and you are either offside or not. But they couldn't get a conclusive angle on either. What's the point of VAR if we can't get definitive angles for these decision that have a definite answer?

You see those tracking cameras that run down the 100 metres track during the race, surely we can use something similar to that to always get the best angle at any ground. You can be using a camera placed 20 yards behind play.

They will say they do know via the tech but the fact they couldn’t get the freeze frame correct shows they absolutely didn’t

Did you steal your floor from a 90's school gym hall?

Cadbury Schweppes office oin Swindon. That is the original flooring in the house and we got a bloke in to add to the extension with blocks from the CS offices. 😁

How can it be in the same season a goal could be allowed 1 month, but then with the implementation of new technology half way through a season that same goal would have been disallowed!

Same reason they quietly stopped giving 10 mins of stoppage time midway through last season - zero consistency

Even that reverse image isn't conclusive. Not sure how many examples of perspective tricking the eye people need to see before they accept that they can't be sure.

The VAR could have killed this by showing the line drawn down from Mateta though, without that they're leaving themselves open to questions of their process and integrity.

Not forgetting the point that they’ve frozen the action 😄

I used to have complete faith in the offside technology but after seeing a couple of blatant

errors last season I’ve done a complete turnaround. The problem is that the current system

requires a human input and is therefore open to human error.

VAR, for offside should only be used if an obvious mistake been made by the officals, if there is any doubt then stick with the original decision. The problem with VAR, it’s too scientific in trying to find the perfect answer!

I get what your saying but the argument as with anything that comes too offside is at what point does a mistake become an obvious mistake. It's completely subjective and immeasurable. The offside technology coming in would have been a great answer but the Premier League have opted for technology that is only going to bring more scrutiny on officials rather than the gold standard system we have seen in the champs league and at the euros.

Like someone pointed out,  VAR will have one finger up our arse and two tickling our balls after we embarrassed the PL by winning our appeal.

Once they make offside “daylight”, then it’ll all be easier. This just off by by the tip penis is silly!

It definitely doesn’t count if it’s just the tip.
