not really the point is it? we didn't have one on the bench tonight, the point is that, accepting daka is injured, we've got 24 senior players plus youth teamers, at least 4 senior players miss out each week

I don't really understand your point, I don't think you do either.

"The third goal was just a real killer and still there was a lot of time left but the game just became a little bit of trying to get players on in certain positions, territory all that stuff, defenders on, extra attackers on, we just lost any sort of rhythm we got in the first half - we lost it completely because of scoreline so it's on us

What the actual F is he on about?!

Pretty much and the facts are forest are a much, much better side than us these days. It’s derangement syndrome, we’re in a fight for survival and they’re expecting Sid to win every week

Yep. We might get 8 or 9 wins this season and with enough draws on top it will constitute a good season.

Annoying to lose to them after being in the game first half and then just not turning up second, but they're a decent mid-table side now.

You people on the Cooper hate bandwagon are just sounding sillier and sillier.. 🤣

Frankly you live in a fantasy world of hatred and nonsense.

The fact is he made a mistake with this team, he picked what the fools on here would pick and lost badly.

Hopefully he learns and returns to his previous successful selections.

Not seen a single Cooperout who is man enough to admit they were plainly WRONG..

small people with big mouths.

I'm not sure it's as simple as that.

Today a lot of us got a team similar to the one we want, and it didn't click.

But then 1 shot on target isn't any worse than some of the games at the start of the season when we played the game with only one wide winger and one inside like Cooper had us playing before now.

The fact we've not been great either way, some of that blame has to land on the players, but some has to go to the manager too. We don't have the best first team in the league, no matter which team we play, so its unrealistic to expect us to win or even draw every game.

But we don't have an awful team either, and we should be creating more chances than we have been.

Formation and players are one aspect of the complex jigsaw, but the tactics we train on during the week, the mentality the manager should be installing, the pattern of play, the positioning, the urgency, the (to quote Puel) - intensity, all these are things the manager can be doing with the team to ensure we aren't looking so clueless.

When we get into the opposition's third we seem devoid of ideas on how to create meaningful chances (not all the time - we have bits of each game when we come to life) but can you name one game this season wheb we've played well for the full 90 minutes?

Can you name one game when we played well in both halves?

The second half against The Saints, the fact Cooper seems to be trying more attacking minded personal in the starting 11, these things are positive as far as I am concerned, but let's not overlook the negatives.

Poor subs, (Southampton match excluded) negative tactics at times (trying to see matches out for long periods of time and inviting pressure) ... the list goes on.

We've also been fortunate with some of the scorelines (even when we've lost, because Mads has been worldclass).

I'll get behind him for now, but I hope he continues to evolve his way of thinking and does it quickly, because football is about fine margins,, and we'll get punished if things don't improve.

Ricardo and winks are not good enough as a centre pairing in the prem. Slow and weak

Ricardo showed why he isnt the start xi whilst Winks showed why Tottenham sold him.

I actually thought they did alright in the first half and also defensively down that side much better than JJ on the other side.

well our luck ran out tonight...in every match this season where we have managed to pick up points we have been very lucky indeed! I think Cooper gets out thought by opposing managers too many times.

Our luck did not run out at all. We used it to only lose 3-1 and score in with our only attempt on target 😂

my point is you've got a squad to use, and you do so by not leaving your subs until the 85th minute so players don't have match fitness. if you don't understand that, probably time to stop drinking and turn in for the night

Possibly a little more. This Squad is woeful by Premier league standard.

We're not anything but bottom 6 squad in most people's opinion.

A good coach  would / could get us to safely stay up though.

We'll drop if we stick with him

I hate losing to them tw@ts but as much as we were poor and deserved to lose, in a bizarre way there's a lot we can learn from results like that and I think it'll benefit us in the long term.

They were awful to watch but very disciplined and well drilled in their approach. Nuno had clearly done his homework on us and they set-up to nullify our main attacking threats. They're very much a mid tier PL side now and it showed. If we want to stay up this season we have to be less naive. At the highest level teams only need one or two chances to score and consequently you need to take the chances that come your way, whilst avoiding sloppy defensive errors.

Make no mistake tonight will be a wake up call for some of the lads so they need to go away, analyse the performance, and ensure that the same mistakes aren't repeated. My concern is that Nuno has now laid out the blueprint for others to follow in terms of how to set up against us, so Cooper likewise will need to reflect and assess his tactical approaches for overcoming such challenges.

Oh well, on to Ipswich. Let's see how the team respond.

Ricardo didn't really get near Hudson Odoi especially in the first half

I noticed there was no chairman in the stands tonight. Rudkin and Whelan couldn't be bothered either.

Whelan was on the pitch at the start

When top isn’t here they don’t sit in the front row

I’m starting to get tired of hearing “we need to be a threat” and “we have to take responsibility” from Cooper. A lot of that is on him.

Faes is the same trier who contributed to our previous relegation. So that's 2 ACL crocked fullbacks and a bombscare centre back.

The championship beckons.

Let's change managers that will sort it out.

Possibly A new Manager and 3 or 4 new players might save us

I think we should give Cooper some slack here.

He tried Ricardo as the inverted FB, partnering Winks in possession and freeing Ndidi to be a destroyer at AM. Some of us criticised him for not trying that, but he did. Kudos for that.

I thought if not for the series of brain farts (Justin’s non clearance especially) that led to the Forrest’s first goal, we were the better team with more control of the game in the first half. Winks and Ricardo had plenty of space to operate in midfield with our two wingers and Ndidi stretching the pitch. Forrest had no answers to that. Our first goal was a clear demonstration of this and it was a beauty.

But then came half time and Forrest adjusted a bit to counter that. But I thought we could have carried on playing like we did in the first half if we didn’t concede so early. Again, it was a defensive mistake. Wood should not have been offered so much room to turn and shoot. Okoli at fault there.

We tried to get back into it but then another defensive brain fart led to their third goal.

By then, Forrest could just sit back and game manage. We could not break them down.

Cooper may well think this is due to Ricardo and the inverted FB system. I hope he doesn’t and it is worth for him to develop this in his own way further. We just had too many defensive lapses this game and both Faes and Justin were constantly having them this game. Okoli had the one with Wood turning but he was otherwise fine.

So I would put this lost more down to a new system that the players need time to adjust (back) to and there were far too many mistakes by our defenders. I wouldn’t mind dropping Justin and using Kristiansen in the same set up next game. I don’t know how to solve the Faes’ regular lapses, and perhaps we need to bring Vesty back with Okoli being the faster partner.

In summary, good signs showed in the first half, but individual mistakes costed us and we were poor second half.

We've gone from ricardo should start to why does Cooper bring on subs in the 85th minute? Do you see were I'm struggling to see the point you're making?

Yep agreed.

Cooper took off Ricardo to balance the change to go back 3, but then we lost in midfield, trying to then chase it with a tonne of attacking midfielders.

Could’ve bought on Odsonne to try and spread the defence further higher up the pitch, but instead we had four players aiming for the same space, wingers tucking in as well as Facundo/BEK/Soumare. Absolutely no structure to it.

Yep we seemed to be trying to play through the middle of them where they were set up to defend with so many bodies.

Last season Enzo used to try to unlock a low block by getting each winger to hug the touch line and switch play quickly to stretch their defence and create holes down the middle. I think I saw us only switch the ball to the other wing once in the last 30mins.

We look like a very average team tactically this season. And Cooper's tactical responses and formation tweaks during games are mostly awful and feel like a roll of the dice.

My notifications have blown up, but here are some of the guys and I's thoughts on the game.

Liked the first half, but tweaks from Forest and some awful individual mistakes made for a comprehensive victory for Nuno's men. I hope Cooper sticks with the system, but think some of the senior players (Faes!) need to take some accountability tonight.

Missed this due to a delayed flight and the m1 being a nightmare.
talk sport mentioned something about a winks comment about him not playing. Anyone know what he said?

On the highlights I can’t believe the pathetic header from Faes. Put something on it you lightweight.
and what does cooper see in soumare that no other manager has seen?
