Will be surprised if there's no announcement this week (no, haven't heard anything personally on this front).

Have you heard anything personally on this front?

I just can't shake the feeling that Potter would be a very good fit here.

Just can't see past the fact that he was in the door here last time and we went back on it. Depends how much self respect he has I guess.

Might understand the reasons and accept them.

Our squad look like “I’m lost without Enzo” mentality at the moment for some reason. They have to be told what to do and we may need someone with a clear plan. So we get either:

1. A boss with that  clear plan which will take time.

2. we get someone who delivers a short term, shell shock, old school tear-up approach that may get us over the line but won’t last. OR

3. Change the style, better on the eye and we may get relegated.

I think Potter fits 1, Mourinho definitely 2. and Moyes could be both 1 and 2.

RVN will be a gamble, maybe we could adapt but I’m not sure we have the attacking players available for his style. He’s the 3.

Yeah thought Simon would’ve understood more. Basically Jim saying how we are where we are and that’s good enough. They don’t seem to comprehend that we sacked cooper due to his performances and the fact that if we continue this way we will go down. The fact we stuck so long with Rodgers and went down should be justification enough to make the call with Cooper.

Yep Jim's football knowledge is actually shocking, just sees everything face value looks at the table and comes up with a decision that it is wrong to sack him based on that

That we are 16th so shouldn't gave sacked him - such a weak analysis, Simon kinds of gets it but still misses the point a bit

Their entire business model is saying things that will provoke fans to ring in and argue.

The more I think about Moyes the more I believe he would not be a good fit here.

Potter, with the right staff and resource, would.

Id still go hell for leather for Roger Schmidt though.

Won't be excited if we get one of those managers whose been lingering round the prem for years doing sort-of ok with various clubs, which for me definitely rules out Moyes, Mourinho, and probably Potter too (appreciate he's a solid fit on paper, but I'm not enthused by him).

No real objections to any of Potter,  Moyes or RVN.

1st choice is Potter, seems the more stable and long-term pick of the 3. Plays a style which would suit us and think he's the ideal fit.

2nd/3rd choice I could take it or leave it. RVN is the gamble with no proven track record at this level, could pay off or could be a car crash.. arguably I would have preferred him over Cooper in the first place. Moyes, I like him but he doesn't strike me as the long-term solution and would only be a temporary option.

Was it definitely us that went back on it? I did hear that, but other rumours suggested he pulled the plug because we wouldn't give him what he wanted in terms of support staff etc...

I've seen this used a few times now as a stick to beat Potter with. He did a superb job at Brighton and left them in great shape for the next manager, as did De Zerbi and this current manager will. Think it's unfair to downplay the job he did there personally

Not looking to beat him with a stick,. just an observation, I would be ok with a potter appointment.  Proven EPL experience.

We might be able to guarantee him a January window of spending big, something we couldn’t do a few months back

Problem is we now have a history of promising things to managers, only to back out of it.
