Let's be honest, after the initial (somewhat fortunate) bounce v West Ham and Brighton, have we seen any improvement compared to what we were doing under Cooper? We're still way too passive, team selections have been baffling and in game management poor.

ruud has less to choose from and the current squad isn't good enough.

Choosing Ward was odd, but other than that i think his selection and in game management been okay. Some unhappy about the subs but we have another game in a few days

Wolves could lose Cunha for a spell too, and he seems like hes the glue holding that team together

It’s a ****ing joke he’s played the last two games. He was their only competent player against us and directly contributed to both of their goals tonight.
Without him they’re just as ****ed as we are over the next 10 games.

All out. Playing the team effectively 10points clear at the top at Xmas. Matching them for the first half.

And you haven’t seen an improvement?

Just what were you expecting??

This I agree with. But can see why people are concerned with RVN as well.

Goals conceded worries me. But we haven't had our best 11 in the last 3 games. Our 1st 11 can complete, the rest are not up to the standard.

We need investment in the squad but to do it in Jan while in the relegation zone is a tough ask. That should have been right in the summer and it was left to a clown telling a clown to buy a substandard player for a stupid amount. Bilal the exception as I think there's a player there.

Went pretty much how I thought it would when I heard we were playing an actual professional goalkeeper. We put in a performance that would yield points against a few of this league but ultimately save it for one where it'll land us nothing - utterly infuriating after serving that up against Wolves.

That exact game seems to play out every single time we go to Anfield.

What a shame we couldn't get to half time 1-0 up as we could have got something out of this game if we were to frustrate them as the mins ticked over.

In fairness, I believe we were 22/1 to win tonight and the draw was 10/1. I cant recall the last time our team had such long odds. We had little chance on paper but played beyond our odds and league position so to be honest I was quite proud of the way we battled and defended at times.

There were quite a few positives. as well as the battling defending, we were quite organised, we did put a few quick one touch slick moves together and had Mavididi been more accurate with a simple pass to Daka, had Daka not had an air shot when the ball was crossed to him in a second big chance it could have been a tad differemt

You could argue with Mads, Vards, Ndidi, Fatawu and Riccardo we have 5 starters out, there could be a further argument that Buonanotte, Faes and Okoli are also first teamers. Liverpool were at full strength so you have to take all that as positives.

Good effort, but we were never winning this one. Justin had to do better for Gakpo's goal and our messign around at the back caused the second. Didn't offer enough at 2-1 to get a chance of a draw; we're far from down but have to pick up some points soon.

I'd love to be overly negative, but I can't be tonight.

Liverpool are arguably the best team in world football at the moment, and for 40 minutes we were winning. I will say that prior to additional time being added I thought we looked relatively well organised and set up. There was a mistake before their first goal, someone jumped in and they missed a chance which seemed to ruin the composure, then Gakpo scored.

Mavididi despite what some are saying online did well. He was an outlet at times and carried the ball well, causing a few problems. He was never going to rip his fullback to bits tonight as we had little of the ball.

Daka did well with what he could do. He had a hard job today, yes he had that chance but I thought he did okay.

Soumare showed touches of class again, Winks looked good. Stolarcyzk had a good game too, and I do feel that he'll be our first choice keeper next season.

There are a few glaring issues still. James Justin is a shadow of his former self and looks a liability. Ayew despite the goal won a few free kicks but in a vital area of the pitch where we needed someone to run the ball out he did little. We could have troubled Liverpool down the other flank say if we had Fatawu.

We all expected to be smashed by at least a 5 goal cushion tonight, so the fact it was tight for a while and we led for a large part of the game must be a positive.

I still think we are doomed though. Conceding far too many goals whatever the opposition. (10 in 3 games)

Daka’s barely played all season and he’s obviously going to be rusty - especially away at the best side in the world atm.

Bit disappointed we didn’t offer more going forwards even when we were chasing.

Liverpool clever for first goal, made us break our shape by allowing us to have the ball for a few minutes to get players forward a bit, also noticed how we kept trying hard passes where pool players were in the way, thats a coaching problem, we look lost when we trying to score with sustained possession.  World class training facility with bog standard coaches.

Also for the first time this season felt the referring was all bit a weird, VAR very odd how it took so long and they were moving frame backwards and forwards as if they were trying to achieve a result, even the live commentator said it was odd, as they were doing it with ball of screen.  Ref associations seems frit of Liverpool.

daka couldnt cut it in the championship. asking him to perform against liverpool is a monumental task for him.

hope he moves on soon, but cant see it happening :(

We desperately miss Ndidi I think. The one major thing has been he seemed to revert back to his old self when Ruud came in. None of our current midfield can replicate what he can do.

Is there a worse centre forward in the league than daka ?

He has had 1 good game in almost 4 years even I could have managed that

A bit better tonight, however conceding goals at this rate, is not sustainable, unless we get a few miracle signings in January we are down I think.

Yep.

Some fans will moan that we lack attacking threat, but what do you expect when Mavididi slows down attacks and the other options are a bunch of snails.

Signing both Ayew and Reid got criticised for a reason, yet more idiotic recruitment by Leicester City.

Mavididi has to slow down attacks, otherwise he’s our only player in the attacking third. We simply don’t get upfield quickly enough and he’s forced to counter on his own. He played an excellent first half tonight and laid on a great cross for Daka in the second half that should have given us a sniff at tying the game.

I'm not just talking about tonight when a defeat was always very likely and we tried our best, despite the clear quality gap. I'm talking about across the 5 games RVN has been in charge I'm not sure we are much better than under Cooper. We still don't create anywhere near enough and we concede way too many shots and chances. Early days of course, but without a great transfer window we are doomed, I think, irrespective of who is in the dugout.

Losing Fatawu was monumental. He is the only guy with pace in the wide areas.

Called it at the time that his injury relegated us. Worst possible person to have an ACL. Got no other natural right winger.
