German champions Bayer Leverkusen were also suggested as an interested party and more has now emerged about the situation around the 22-year-old defender. Messaggero Veneto have reported that exits could be a problem for Udinese this month, even if manager Kosta Runjaic has made it clear that the club has no need to sell players in January. Despite that, it is stated that Kristensen is being ‘literally stalked’ by Leicester City, who will have to pay about €16.5m to sign him, but that price tag doesn’t scare the Foxes at all. While the report mentions that Tottenham and Leverkusen are also interested, they seem confident that it is Leicester City who are leading the race for the centre-back. Kristensen’s exit will not be massive for Udinese by any means but the indication is that his loss will still impact the side, with the Dane having started three of the last four Serie A games for the club. He has made eight appearances in all competitions so far this season. “Literally stalked” 5

From what I’ve seen he appears very similar to Vestergaard but he has a tad more pace and loves switching the ball with long diagonal passes. He doesn’t appear to use his size as well as he could though, again similar to Vesty. Moving to a back 3 only works if you have 2 competent WB’s who can attack and defend on both sides. No way JJ and VK can fulfill those roles as neither have the engine required to get up and down or the quality in final third. Edited 6 January 2025 by kingpower 4

I doubt we'll move to a standard back 3, based on RvN's preferred formations. Instead, I'd hazard a guess this guy replaces JJ at RB out of possession, and drops into being an RCB in possession. VK/a left wing back then pushes forward more in possession, like Justin does currently.

Yep agree.. formation change wont save us and is not needed its simply personal changes in key positions that will.
kingfox Posted 6 January 2025 Posted 6 January 2025 This is from his time at AGF in Denmark where he produced quite a highly rated defensive duo with Yann Aurel Bisseck(Now at Inter Milan). The two of them ended up being AGF’s highest record departures in the clubs history… 1 3
Torten Posted 6 January 2025 Posted 6 January 2025 JJ wouldn't get nearly as exposed at RWB. Unfortunately he is lacking going forwards.
honeybradger Posted 6 January 2025 Posted 6 January 2025 Surely we cant be considering spending £16m on a player who has spent most of this season out injured.

Certainly once Ndidi is back too.

Seems quite similar to Vestergaard but can also operate as a right centre back. So I could see why his profile could be interesting. Any idea how fast he is?

He first came to my attention when he was at AGF, but at that time I was mainly focusing on Nagalo and Bisseck who were arguably the two standout defensive talents in Denmark at the time. I believe he’s mainly played in a back three, both at AGF and Udinese, think he’s operated on both the right and left sides of defence, but probably best to look on Sofascore for his heat map. As for pace, not sure mate, you’ll have to go digging for some Udinese highlights 😕 1
