From the footage I’ve been able to find of Kristensen (his time in denmark) interestingly, he spent a lot of his time at right back or the right side of a back 3 which may further indicate a plan to move to a back 3?

From what I’ve seen he appears very similar to Vestergaard but he has a tad more pace and loves switching the ball with long diagonal passes. He doesn’t appear to use his size as well as he could though, again similar to Vesty.

Moving to a back 3 only works if you have 2 competent WB’s who can attack and defend on both sides. No way JJ and VK can fulfill those roles as neither have the engine required to get up and down or the quality in final third.

I doubt we'll move to a standard back 3, based on RvN's preferred formations.

Instead, I'd hazard a guess this guy replaces JJ at RB out of possession, and drops into being an RCB in possession. VK/a left wing back then pushes forward more in possession, like Justin does currently.

We need a right winger to do that.

Currently, we play an LM and JJ becomes the the RM when in possession

Yep agree.. formation change wont save us and is not needed its simply personal changes in key positions that will.

This is from his time at AGF in Denmark where he produced quite a highly rated defensive duo with Yann Aurel Bisseck(Now at Inter Milan). The two of them ended up being AGF’s highest record departures in the clubs history…

the 3 at the back in possession 4 at the back out of possession things makes sense to me with the right personnel.

out of possession:

                          hermansen

kristiansen vestergaard okoli kristiansen

         ndidi            winks           soumare

    buona                                         bilal

                              vardy

in possession

                          hermansen

     kristiansen     vestergaard       okoli

                              winks

              ndidi                      soumare

       bouna             bilal                 kristiansen

That does feel one hell of a lot more solid down the right, doesn't it? Certainly once Ndidi is back too.

If this happens, how long before whoever does the team sheet graphic mixes up his and VK's numbers?

I remember years ago East Midlands Today announcing the loan signing of Collins John from Fulham with an image of John Collins. Still makes me smile.

How can you expect Thomas to go from right back to left mid in possession

Thanks for this, he’s not a player I’m too familiar with. Seems quite similar to Vestergaard but can also operate as a right centre back. So I could see why his profile could be interesting. Any idea how fast he is?

No problem mate.

He first came to my attention when he was at AGF, but at that time I was mainly focusing on Nagalo and Bisseck who were arguably the two standout defensive talents in Denmark at the time.

I believe he’s mainly played in a back three, both at AGF and Udinese, think he’s operated on both the right and left sides of defence, but probably best to look on Sofascore for his heat map.

As for pace, not sure mate, you’ll have to go digging for some Udinese highlights 😕
