MLS teams are permitted a max of 3 designated players (aka big money signings whose wages fall outside the MLS salary cap). Messi, Zaha (on loan) and Benteke are examples of other current designated players. Red Bulls look to already have 3 such players on their roster. The fact there is still conversations in this forum about players like hamza, ward and daka on 2025 is silly. Nearly all other clubs would have moved him on long ago.
