It's horrific imo.

It's fine drawing that out but fake chimneys around a strangely shaped stadium? It's gonna look hideous, not that I think it'll ever be built.

Looks a bit like they've bought up the London 2012 opening ceremony props and now have to use them.

I'd be surprised if this Birmingham City stadium actually happens, especially when the club aren't even in the premier league. The idea of talking about building a 60,000 stadium and your not in the top flight and haven't been there for over 10 years is just laughable.

Build it and they will come.

As the country’s 2nd city, it’ll get used for other stuff. NFL, concerts etc

Another club we are falling behind.

The stadium upgrade was so important. Everyone is at it apart from us. You don’t wait for success again before doing it. Frustrating

Agreed.

You also don’t wait until you’re in the PL before building it. These things take years to plan and construct.

You aim to be there for when it’s finished.

Make more sense have it as phase project, like 2030 it'll be 40,000 capacity stadium which makes sense considering Birmingham's fan base. Then maybe depending what league there in 2032 take the capacity to that 60,000. Interesting how Villa will respond to this as the rebuild the north stand they have planned is only taking the capacity up to 50,000.

Where do they think they're getting 60,000 fans from they struggle to fill their ground as it is.

I think it will be for NFL/Concerts.  Much like the proposed Man Utd stadium I'd be surprised if it ends up looking like the renders...if its built at all.

If they do build a 60,000 seater stadium regardless of how it looks it's going to look half empty or more than half empty any home game but they'll try justifying it because it's full a few times a year because of NFL or concerts. Why I'm glad ours hasn't gone ahead so far because within the next year or so we'll be lucky if we get more than 23,000 at a home game.

I think 60,000 is the minimum they can have to host NFL.  I doubt they'll be too bothered about empty seats given the huge increase in income they'll generate.  Plus if they did make it to the promised land I can see them getting 50,000+ for some games, more than double what they get now.

I understand what you mean, but not filling every seat isn't really an issue abroad, it seems we're obsessed with every seat being taken.  I would also hope that they'll be many more reasonably priced tickets for games, but that might just be wishful thinking on my part.

Makes sense why they want 60,000 if that's the minimum for a home game in the NFL. Making tickets reasonably priced would definitely help fill the ground and that goes for any football club.

Imagine building this 60,000 and opening day of season its Birmingham v Stevenage in league one. Good luck trying to sell tickets for that 😆

Wrexham at least there project is more logical its stand by stand being redeveloped and basising what level there at. They could just said lets build a 50,000 stadium on the edge of the city. But instead decided to revamp Racecourse step by step.

🤷‍♂️ I wouldn't say it's a standard out of town soulless bowl design at all

Aside from the excessive amount of VIP boxes (got to rake in the corporate hospitality dollars from the NFL games they want to host), the inside of the stadium looks excellent even if it is too large for the club. New White Hart Lane and Bramley Moore are both fantastic new grounds and this is of a similar vein.

I'd take it any day over our stadium or the likes of Cov, MK, West Ham etc

For me, the problem with most clubs having grounds too big for them has always been how they sell the tickets.

If Brum had a 60k stadium but 15-20k was blocked off it would be fine, but I can't stand it when you see pockets of empty seats on the TV, just stick people together and open up sections when they're in demand.

There's nothing wrong with having a ground ready for 'better times', you just don't need to have people rattling around in them when you're not there yet.

Or incentivise people to go. Offer lower priced tickets a couple of times if you pay the higher price a couple of times.

You aren't going to sell out every game at the top price. Actively try and get fans in regularly.

they could give tickets out to the local schools and thats how you on board early fans and start filling those stadiums
