We’re owned by Top not KP

It just adds to the thinking that he’s not well thought of when it comes to running large organisations. May Top lose or reduce his wealth to the point owning us becomes even more problematic? I suppose that’s what I’m getting at and hoping.

Promoted to Chairman. I don’t think it’ll change much for us.

Shows KP shareholders (Top’s family) don’t trust him running their cash cow on the day to day though

That’s not what he meant. He meant the CEO of King Power.

Also am I going insane or do the Thais have a different calendar system to us? What’s with all the dates in that article lol

Fair enough. My bad, I misunderstood @Wasyls Pec Deck's post.

What’s Happening and How It Affects Leicester City

🛫

Overview of the Situation

King Power Duty-Free, which owns Leicester City Football Club, is renegotiating its duty-free concessions with Airports of Thailand (AOT), amid a tourism slump, especially from China.

  • King Power wants to cut its revenue-sharing obligations to 20% to stay profitable.

  • AOT’s stock price fell over 4% due to fears of lost income (up to THB 9.9 billion/year).

  • AOT might raise passenger fees or restructure operations to make up the shortfall.

💼

King Power Management Shake-up

King Power has appointed Nitinai Sirismatthakarn as CEO (from June 4, 2025). He was previously President of AOTfor 8 years, giving him deep knowledge of Thailand’s airport business, making him an ideal negotiator during these talks.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha (Leicester City chairman) has moved up to Group Executive Chairman, meaning he’ll now focus more on long-term strategy than day-to-day operations.

How This Affects Leicester City

1.

Financial Implications

If King Power secures a 20% revenue-sharing deal, it could:

  • Preserve cash flow, making continued support of Leicester City more viable.

  • Prevent the need for cost-cutting across the Group (which might otherwise include football operations).

If negotiations fail or if King Power’s revenues decline further:

  • Less money could be available for transfers, wages, or other investments in Leicester City.

  • The club might need to become more self-sustaining or sell key players.

2.

Leadership Shift

Aiyawatt’s new role as Executive Chairman could:

  • Reduce his hands-on involvement with Leicester City (day-to-day).

  • Shift his focus to strategic oversight, possibly prioritising King Power’s recovery before heavy reinvestment in the club.

What to Watch Next

  • Outcome of AOT–King Power negotiations (due by mid-July).

  • AOT’s analyst meeting on June 16 may reveal how flexible they are.

  • The impact of Thailand’s tourist recovery, especially from China, over the next 6–12 months.

Let me know if you’d like a simplified version for fans, or a financial risk analysis from the club’s POV.

The Buddhist calendar year is 543 years ahead of ours.

Putting Top in a role where he can't mess things up in the near to medium term whilst also allowing him to just play polo instead of play polo and run the business into the ground.

If he was running king power the same as Leicester you can see why they have got shot of him. Can we have someone to run Leicester

Looks like someone at KP has decided they need a serious CEO to guide them through their current troubles instead of a man child

Hopefully they do the same at LCFC

Even though Top is the PSC at LCFC, if the new King Power CEO is worth his salt he'll quickly realise any form of money funnelling its way to LCFC is a waste of time and resource and hopefully advise Top to flog it.

I realise we aren't being directly bailed out by King Power per se anymore but it will still be linked via sponsorship, and ultimately Top and his families wealth. Be an interesting time if it get's anywhere near insolvency

Yup

New KP CEO is previously fromThai Airports who KP are currently renegotiating with

Seems like the kind of move you make when you’ve got a business to save

Or you can't be arsed and want someone else to do the hard yards.

Sensible move if you haven't got the brainpower or experience to run a large business, shame he doesn't take the same view with LCFC.

He does… but the people reliable for running us are also highly incompetent.

his switch of role at KP is to exactly the role he’s supposed to do at the club.

Let’s hope for them that they haven’t found Svidatjohn Nueataphonrudkin

You want the guy who wrote off 400 million in loans to leave? Why?
