Who would you keep?

  1. 1. Assuming in a perfect world you could get fair value for every player in our squad, how many players would you keep around? (either by their skill or because you just generally like them.)

Just 4 for me: Ricardo, Thomas, Fatawu and Ndidi.

Unfortunately we will be forced to sell Mads and Bilal

Oh...and Stolarczyk so 5

I think people are taking it for granted that PL clubs are going to want any of our players.

Has Bilal done enough to attract any interest.  We would need £21m just to break even.  He has 2 goals and 1 assist.  I don't see many clubs queuing up for him.

Similarly, mads started the season really well but was out for a good portion of it.  I'm not sure we can assume a top club is going to want him.

I hope we can get actual money for the likes of Faes and Soumare.  Obviously it won't be fortunes but hopefully we can scrape together a few quid selling off the dross rather than the family silver.

I did say with Bilal I'm not sure anyone would pay what we'd want. I think Mads has done enough this season for top clubs to have a look. Liverpool are getting Mamardashvili but I could see all the other clubs looking at improving their options. Even clubs outside of the big 6 could be interested. Maybe Newcastle

Book values this summer

Hard to sell:

  • Soumare, Winks, Daka, Ayew, Coady, Faes all hard to move on without making a loss.
  • Can't see anyone paying £16m+ for El Khannous, and we'd want £20m+ for it to be worthwhile
  • Kristiansen, Souttar, Okoli, Skipp all virtually unsellable
  • Fatawu coming back from injury

Easier to sell

  • Hermansen, Mavididi much easier to sell for profit
  • Ndidi, Ricardo and Justin all unclear because signed contract extensions/new deals in time here, but imagine all 3 are 'easier' to sell and make profit on
  • Academy products like Thomas, McAteer easier to sell, since all profit

I’d like to think Nelson could be one of those centre backs. I’d be happy if it was also Souttar but I don’t think he’ll be fit. I don’t know how Nelson and Okoli would work together. We would seriously need to shift the likes of Faes and Coady if we want to invest in that area as we have a lot of numbers already.

I definitely want to see Nelson in the squad getting solid minutes.

But I want us to sign some absolute, grade A, shit house willy pullers who win 500% of their aerial duels and do 75% of their tackling with their elbows.

At the risk of going all caveman, I'm so ****ing sick of Rolls Royce defenders who can pick a pass but can't track a run or clear a ball.

We’re in a horrific situation where the only players I like are the ones we will be forced to sell.

Maybe we can hold onto Fatawu because of his injury.

BEK I’m not sure people will pay what we’d want just yet so maybe there is hope there.

My wild card is Luke Thomas, offer him a new contract on reduced terms because he won’t get the wages he’s getting here even by moving.

Pretty much everyone else I will be glad to see the back of, particularly the centre halves barring Okoli.

Get some young hungry players that fight for the shirt, genuinely don’t care if we stay down for a few years so long as we get players that I feel a connection to.

I think a lot of people will be looking at sellable assets. It won’t be about ability

Surely we need to keep him another season to build his value back up. Don't think we'd get his true value this summer

exactly, it would be crazy to sell him now. We’d get less than we paid.

Hold him at all costs, a big year in the championship and his value rises again. People will pay attention now

I can’t see anything other then Mads and BEK being premier league players next season, BEK in a side where he’s not the only creative talent that teams activate their press on would be something decent in my opinion

We sold Castange, Barnes, KDH, to balance the books on the last relegation season. About £80m a majority was pure profit and spent about £40m

I can't see us getting anywhere near that figure with players in this squad on the back of horrendous form.

Things will be a lot tighter next season because of the reduced PSR amount anyway.
Plus we we have, players like Soumare

VK

Skipp

BDR

Ayew

Bilal

Okoli

pushing up the weekly wage up compared to the last time we went down.

Let’s hope we can get rid of a lot of the high earners.

Both Iversen and Ward’s contracts are expiring. I wouldn’t be surprised if we gave Ward a new deal.

We’ve turned down deals for Iversen too despite being in PSR trouble.

Two strong case studies in RudKing Power Decline.

Here is another one, that I just stumbled on when checking rumoured wages

“Odsonne Edouard (Centre-Forward) has 1 year and £4,680,000 Estimated Gross Salary remaining on his contract with Leicester (Premier League), expiring on Jun 30, 2025. Odsonne Edouard, who is 27 years old, will earn an Estimated Base Salary of £4,680,000 for the 2024-2025 Season, or £90,000 gross per week, excluding bonuses”

even if palace were paying half that, which is unlikely.

It’s probably at least another few million chucked away when money is tight.

If Palace were paying his wages they wouldnt have him loaned out doing fck all.

I still think there are plenty of decent lads within the squad who've been treated really really poorly by the manager..

I haven't given up on the likes of Skipp, Winks, Stephy, Buonanotte (albeit he's off) , Okoli - all have been shat on by the Dutchman

Plenty more decent lads too - even if they aren't PL level; examples include JJ, VK, Ricky (nowadays), Daka, Big Harry Souttar

We just gotta hope the Ayew, Vesty, BdCR, Coady deals all have huge wage reductions in place for relegation and that they fck.off.

The reset had to start with the isolation of all these tired, cynical, patronising aforementioned old fckers. And the serial failures in Soumare and Faes. Until those six are hounded / bullied / bribed out of the club, we can't start afresh

Mads is gone, to be honest, we'll need one sellable asset to help balance things and be able to reinforce. He's the most obvious. I can't imagine us really getting Bilal to play in the Championship either but I could be surprised.

The biggest problem is the defence. They're all shit and none of them have any warrior spirit to them at all. Pretty much sack them all off except maybe Woyo who I think might end up being a low key brilliant signing for the Championship.

I wouldn't be upset if we lined up like so on day one in the Championship:

Daka

Mavididi, Bilal, Fatawu

Winks, Ndidi

New, New, New, Woyo

Stolarczyk

We can throw all our money at getting a decent defence and a decent manager and that's a team that'd get us promoted easily.

Appreciate Daka is the one that's going to raise the most eyebrows but we'll need to sign a young striker anyway, we'll never do all year with Vards and Daka again if Vards even stays.

This is exactly how I see it and I could also see Daka clicking at some point.

That team would tear the championship apart, subject to the Dutchman not being here..

Wilf will be off tho. He has a clause..Almost certainly BEK too. If he hasn't, his agent needs shooting.

Winks, Skipp and Hamza is more than enough for the championship

Souttar Nelson JJ VK Ricky Okoli and Coulibaly all way above anything Leeds, Sheff Utd Burnley have

I’d like to see us do what other clubs have done and loan out talent like Bilal to Europe under the premise we might be back up the next year.

I think we’d have to do the same with Fatawu if he hadn’t got injured!

That's a terrible idea.  How are we going to get promoted by loaning out our best players?

If that's true, they are in for a world of pain next year.

Pretty much my entire position.

We will be full of most of these next season though. Make no mistake.

Just clear the lot out. They've effectively turned me neutral.

What makes a man turn neutral? Now we know.
