Lets face it, Tuchel only needs to be good for just over 16 months. His thinking is probably getting through these two games with some steady heads.

Brother in Christ, it’s Albania and Latvia.

I think this is the problem with the 18 month 'win us a trophy' contract.

He's got one job and one job only and he'll want 'leaders' in the squad, but that takes up spaces for good prospects.

I doubt Walker and Henderson will get more than ten mins, but they're taking a spot that could be used to look forward.

Guarantee if he had a 4 year contract that squad would look different.

Way Tuchel talks about Henderson suggests he will be captain or certainly heavily involved.

Feels like a squad from 2/3 years ago but guess Tuchel is here for the short term only really .

This is Henderson who spent a year in the Saudi league and then has hardly set the world alight with Ajax, Ridiculous decision - that and Solanke getting in ahead of Watkins and Gallagher not making the squad.

Also, Reece James on his day is a great RB but the guy has paper knees and has played like 8 or 9 times all season.

Looking at u21 team, he’s clearly wanting those younger ones to get tournament winning experience this summer, so I suppose it makes sense for those eligible to play in that team for now.

Just shows the FA pick the team really.

Full of has-beens and big-club-youth.

Not really sure why the likes of Keane Lewis-Potter, Morgan Gibbs-White, Ollie Watkins, Conor Gallagher or Adam Wharton need to do to get in (other than play for one of the traditionally big English clubs).

Who picked them all before then as almost all of them have been in though?

Expensive business getting an overseas manager in probably on decent money to then just pick the squad...

A surprise that natural leader Conor Coady wasn't selected (and still has more caps than Barnes and Maddison combined).

Can imagine Henderson never expected recall either.

Just hope we're not picking players from now based on who they are rather than are they in form.

I didn't think we could find a gaffer more boring than Southgate, fair play to the FA though. They've exceeded my expectations.

He will beat awful teams and struggle "admirably" against anyone close to us

Tuchel out

Dan Burn. Like look every England squad should be picked on the basis of ‘can this team beat Spain in the Euro 2024 final?’.

Dan Burn against someone of Yamal’s quality is laughable. Alongside that considering our opponents, you’d want someone confident and competent in position, he doesn’t fit that. Same applies with Henderson too

I'm still convinced that the FA have their say on a certain amount of players and they're based on sponsorship or something. There is no rhyme or reason some of those players get in.

Of course they do, Grealish will be back before we know it as hes poster boy.

As would many many fans if he was fit and in form.

When he wasn't before people used to use it as a example that Southgate didn't like flair players.

I don't think the FA have suddenly told their newly acquired expensive overseas coach who to pick tbh.

Cannot see Tuchel being one to take that sort of rubbish either.

But he is probably has gone back and picked a few players he knows personally and doesn't look very exciting or inspiring.

Mind you he's only here for one world cup and not interested long term.

Dan Burn and Jordan Henderson aren’t bringing the sponsorship money in

To be honest people cant wait to stick knives into the new manager before hes even started. The England job seems like a job where you can never win. I am surprised with the selections but i wont judge fully until a few internationals.
