@kingfox Bo Svensson keeps coming up when I search with AI for potential managerial candidates. Would he be a good shout in your view?

Mentioned him a while back as he felt like one of the better free agents at that time, but now more managers have become available, I’m not overly keen. He did a solid job at Mainz for a period of time, but didn’t last very long at Union Berlin.

He also tends to favour a 3-4-2-1 formation, which doesn’t really fit with certain elements of our squad imo.

Interesting is their any rules where we can announce the new manager then confirm Ruud will be leaving on 30th June.

Ruud would have to be announced as being on gardening leave first.

Is that what Chelsea effectively did with Potter?

Yeah. It's currently happening at QPR too but for different reasons.

What’s actually gone on with Cifuentes, they sacked him because he was interested in the west brom job? But then west brom weren’t bothered?

And nobody is keen on him? Seemed like he did a fairly decent job at qpr

I imagine he will just be officially sacked whenever they find a replacement. Essentially he's falled out with directors/owner and position became untenable. Perhaps they've done it for accounting reasons also.

A bit of history,

On 8 June 2017, Shakespeare signed a three-year deal to be the permanent manager for Leicester City.

(last match of the 16/17 season was 21/5/17).

Last game of the 2022/2023 season was 28/5/23, Smith released and Enzo appointed 16th June 2023.

18 days and 19 days respectively when we've changed manager at the end of the season. Evidently we like to take our time!

Lots of people winding each other up with speculation here, which is inevitable in the absence of any real news. However, it's probably equally likely that the club are actually engaging with a number of candidates, some that are in posts and some not, and that will necessitate treading very carefully. It's also likely that the club are aware that this is a critical decision and are being diligent in their assessments of candidates.

Is there anything stopping them sacking the manager now? It's not mid-season, so there's no concern with a gap at the helm between sacking and appointment. If there is nothing to prevent that, then surely he's staying. Otherwise, why wouldn't you just be getting on with things?

Three possible reasons: 1) Cost - we may be waiting until either we officially become a Championship club (this Friday) or the new accounting period begins in July; 2) While the owners want a new manager, they haven't found one yet and are keeping RVN as a back up option; 3) Our club's decision-making process is so centralized that the final say on what to do re: our managerial situation is sitting with Top, who is busy playing polo.

I guess because nobody knows how good he can be. If he were to bring us wonder kids from real madrids youth system on loan, we could be laughing though.

Reputation within the game I suppose, no doubt helped by his surname but all reports are he’s a seriously impressive coach. Would be a very enzo-like appointment, but from bits of interviews he’s a little more pragmatic in his approach

I've liked Danny Rohl for a long time and I think he'd suit Leicester for a number of reasons.

- Used to a sh*t ownership/board

- Adaptive styles of play, modern thinking

- Good squad rotation and uses the youth

No idea what our squad will look like come the new season but with an educated guess, he  could use something like this.. ish. Note the ISH no haters please lol.

Even with our players that are likely to leave etc, we'll have a good squad with the ability and depth to play an aggressive and dynamic style. Also a rotating squad i.e Woyo for Ricardo. I don't think we'll walk it especially the point deduction, but surely we look attractive to Danny Rohl as we're still a richer club with better players and resources.

P.S I hope John Dudkin and Susan Weiner see this as clearly they have less ideas than my imagination.

@kingfox what do you think of Ole Werner and Jess Thorup?

Werner I think will get far better suitors than Leicester City.

Thorup I see as more realistic. I’d put him in the same bracket as Brian Priske who I’ve mentioned in the past, both have won things in the lesser leagues, and those particular leagues tend to focus on youth development. Looking through Thorup’s history at the clubs he’s been at, his history with younger squads stacks up quite solidly, while in terms of formations, he has varied from club to club. Of the realistic foreign managers that are available, I’d put him quite high on my list.

That’s an awful use of our squad in an 11.

Ricardo and Thomas aren’t flying wing-backs, Fatawu and Mavididi are wingers, not wide 10s that you usually play in a 3-4-2-1, and Skipp and Winks don’t have the legs to be a double pivot in a 3-4-2-1 system.

Am hearing that Dyche is 'one of two' of the club's interest, because of his time at Burnley in the Championship plus is fairly local.

I have no idea what any redeeming features Rohl has tactically that suit our squad.

He’s been coaching a side to be hard to beat and play on the break, when we have a side that is going to be one of the most technically gifted and strongest in the league - teams are going to play the complete opposite against us as to how they set up against Sheffield Wednesday during his time there.
