TommyK Posted 4 June 2025 Posted 4 June 2025 Middlesbrough fans really weren't keen on Carrick in the end. Particularly this season. 1
dillonpanthers87 Posted 4 June 2025 Posted 4 June 2025 I posted this before; I honestly think we'll end up with Rafa. I don't want this to happen btw. Just gut feeling, hope I'm wrong 1
Popular Post Sol thewall Bamba Posted 4 June 2025 Popular Post Posted 4 June 2025 I'm kind of at the point that I don't care who it is. Whoever it is will have to work for idiots and more than likely be lied to in terms of our financial situation. He'll have to manage players that are knobheads who largely don't want to be here. My preference is Rohl but the majority of our players would see themselves as above him, and I can see another downing of tools. Grim. 7

Would prefer a manger who is pragmatic rather than cut and paste setup like robots every week. Then I suggest you read what Middlesbrough fans think of him. He’s accused of being too slow and predictable and having no plan B. They’ve gone backwards for 2 seasons and they feel the squad was good enough to finish much higher than teams they’ve finished behind. A firm no to Carrick from me. If he isn’t good enough for them, he’s not good enough for us. Edited 4 June 2025 by Kitchandro 2

Any road, we don't even have a vacancy (yet).

TeamRocket Posted 4 June 2025 Posted 4 June 2025 Don't know who would even wanna come to this club anymore. Managers get treated like dung, players probably getting treated the same, fans definitely get treated worse then both. Still waiting for the apology we was dung post.

I know we’re speculating upon speculation but surely it wouldn’t have been difficult to draft the contract in a way such that a cheaper sacking was triggered at the point of relegation being confirmed by league position, rather than the official swapping of shares process. Maybe it gets thorny with potential for points decisions etc but it feels like, if true, that would be avoidable drafting. Edited 5 June 2025 by theessexfox

Ralf Rangnick is not in it for the money, he's reportedly earning £2-3m in his Austria post. I'd happily take £5m a season from the transfer budget and give it to him. Him overseeing our club and building us a proper network is worth more than the majority of £5m players we are likely to sign in the future. Ambitious as hell to go for him, but he opted out of his role at United and took the Austria gig, so who knows what he would be open to, advisory role until his time with them ends and then he could take over as DOF? My guess is though, Top would need to prove he is willing to actually change anything in order to bring in the calibre of RR.
whoareyaaa Posted 4 June 2025 Posted 4 June 2025 If the majority of players are happy with Ruud then roll with it let him clear out by players who are not committed he seems like he wants to stay at leat give him till Christmas
whoareyaaa Posted 4 June 2025 Posted 4 June 2025 (edited) Also I don’t think Rohl would be any better than Ruud and Dyche while he would be steady would revert to Cooper style tactics which the team did not respond to. id just give Ruud till Christmas and focus on building the team moee importantly bring in some back room staff a yapp stam or robben type would help him massively Edited 4 June 2025 by whoareyaaa

If the remit of RvN staying is them "being happy" with him then we are doomed. Player power of this level, dictating decisions of this importance can't happen. Ever. Also, what makes you think we can actually clear out the non-committed players anyway, We seem to have failed hideously so far.. RvN was a brilliant player, but will never be a manager as long as he has a hole in his @rse.. we need shot ASAP. 2

Polar opposite IMO. He, unlike Cooper and especially Ruud has tactical flexibility and adaptability. He likes a 5-4-1 formation, which can change to a 3-4-3 when in possession, emphasising wing-backs for width and fluidity. Rohl's teams also have a high press, aiming to force mistakes in midfield and win the ball back in central areas. So no pissing around with the ball in our 18yd area inviting pressure and waiting for the inevitable mistake. I don't think he's wedded to and stuck hell bend with a single main style, Cooper was and Dyche definitely is. At least we would hopefully see a bit of entertaining football on the pitch.
Dan Posted 5 June 2025 Posted 5 June 2025 Michael Carrick reeks of us. Out of work so cheap, beat us twice in 2023/24 so gets overestimated on here somewhat despite two pretty disappointing campaigns at Middlesbrough, quite hipster vibes. Basically he's not hugely dissimilar to Martin without a lot of the same baggage. Could see them going for him.

I still want to be entertained. Football is a beautiful game but not the way these two play it. I'll take Carrick over these two any day of the week. 1
winteriscoming Posted 5 June 2025 Posted 5 June 2025 Ruud should never have lasted till the end of last season and now some on hear think he should be given the start of next season. Baffling. A few good results against rubbish who we will play next season can’t hide what a dreadful manager he is. I’d rather we have someone to upset the current overhyped egos of these players. We cannot go into next season with Ruud in charge. 2

Claudio Fannieri Posted 5 June 2025 Posted 5 June 2025 Well now we have officially become a championship club, I think if anything is going to happen it will be in the next few days. Personally I think the club have been waiting for this to happen before engaging with Ruud as contractually any wage reduction clauses will kick in from now and therefore it will potentially be a lot cheaper to pay him off from now. I imagine the decision to get rid of Ruud was made sone time ago but the club will have been given legal advice to hold off until a certain point in time when the pay off would be greatly reduced and therefore minimise any PSR implications.

I love your optimism, and this could possibly be true, but I just think it's a case of neglect as they are on holiday mode.
Raj Posted 5 June 2025 Posted 5 June 2025 People think the likes of Rafa Benitez( a champions league winner and manager of some of the greatest clubs plus Everton!) or Soutgate(ex International Manager) will manage LCFC after having discussions with Rudkin and Top!!!

Rob Tanner suggested a few days ago that it may be the new accounting period they’re waiting for, which isn’t for another three-and-a-half weeks.
