Games totally gone. I’m not far from being done with football all together. They’ve lost sight of that the game is all about ultimately to pander to the fragile big boys.

Hit the reset button. **** all of this money bag owners off, and go patch to shit up pitches and baggy shirts.

This is where I am. The footballing side of the sport seems to be the bit that gets in the way. Fans as a whole seem angrier and more frustrated across the board.

It would seem the people who run our club missed the course on how to set and manage a budget, it’s ridiculous that we have breached as we have got away on technicalities but then have the summer transfer window we have had where we have literally burned money on some right old dross.

We have not learnt one single lesson. Shameful but remember be careful what you wish for and we were in league one once 😡

Meanwhile Wrexham are able to buy themselves up the football league as a Welsh team in an English league system because of  clever marketing and an overseas fan base. You can’t make this ish up.

I'm a bit thick, can somebody sum this up for me in one sentence.

I can’t do it in one sentence but here’s a breakdown that hopefully helps

What changed?

The EFL updated financial rules (Profit & Sustainability) for Championship clubs from the 2025/26 season to better manage clubs moving between the Championship and Premier League.

Key points:

March (each season):

Clubs must send an estimate of their finances for the current season and the two before it, even if they were in the Premier League.

December (after season ends):

Clubs must send their audited accounts and final financial report to the league they are currently in (EFL or Premier League).

Stronger enforcement:

The EFL can now apply penalties from the Premier League, and vice versa.

Early intervention:
If a club looks like it will break the rules, the EFL can act early — e.g., require a business plan or force player sales in the next transfer window (June).

Possible future rule:
Clubs are discussing a Squad Cost Ratio, which would limit player spending to a percentage of a club’s income (like the system the Premier League is testing).

I very much doubt any of that will stand up legally.

I'd like to see the EFL try to force us to sell our players.  If noone wants them, what then?  lol

You have just highlighted one anomaly.

Are they prepared to compensate Clubs for losses incurred.?

Or even Fans for the loss of entertainment brought about by these stupid rules.

Maybe the clubs not breaching and in the black by at least the value of the player plus wages would have to take them😂 could see skipp end up at a lowly well run club on huge wedge😂 at least that’s one way to get rid of them!

Who gives a feck. These rules are destroying the competitiveness of the game. They are absolutely fine  if/when they cap the rich teams from spending so much, it should be within a reasonable percentage of an average permitted spend.  Affordability rules do not equate to fairness, not even in the slightest. It's time the big 6 feck off to their super shiny shit league and give the rest of us our football back!!

What I don't understand is why the lesser clubs support it, when it's just allowing the rich to get richer, no matter how crap they are.

I'd recommend going to watch non league football mate.

I've been to Harborough Town a handful times since I moved here a couple of months ago, and it's bloody brilliant. Football as it should be. Players aren't constantly throwing themselves to the floor, there's no tika taka, very little tactical fouling. Just really enjoyable. Planning on getting a season ticket there next season.

I find it difficult to watch LCFC knowing that the club is rotting from the inside. I also find top flight football increasingly dull.

Exactly. Blanket wage/transfer cap regardless or revenue is the only way to go to make it fair. That will never happen because it won’t get the votes due to the interests of the large majority of those voting.

The challenge could be that applying a rule during a cycle of three years could be a problem for the EFL, you have to allow for the cycle of three years to wash through before the rule can be applied. Otherwise they could just arbitrarily say that actually you need to make a profit now and based on the last three years its impossible.

I've had a few beers, i guess what i mean is that this "shouldn't" apply until 2027/2028 season.

Not questioning your interpretation, believe it entirely, but how exactly can the EFL force player sales if they don't want to leave or no one wants to buy them?

Out of interest, does anyone know if, when it says EFL clubs, we (and Soton and Ipswich) were included in this decision process, as we will be EFL teams in the season this starts?
