How unexpected... Pressume they had to charge him before he moved to wherever he was planning on moving to?

The difference between arrested and charged with the offences is massive. CPS won’t go ahead with a charge without reasonable enough evidence.

Maybe as mentioned this is why there was no contract renewal.

Or it’s likely Arsenal put in a gagging order

Timing of that seems a bit too coincidental

Less than a week after his contract expired at Arsenal. Confirming that they are a bunch of *****.

What the actual ****.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see him finally charged. But that just looks openly corrupt, it happens days after his contract expires and he leaves?

Can imagine rape victims being quite, and rightfully so, disgusted that it has taken this long for the charges to be announced.

Wouldnt matter, unless hes been remanded (unlikely) then hes free to go wherever he wants so long as he turns up for his court date - obviously subject to any bail conditions too..

If he chose to avoid court, he'd just have a warrant out for his arrest which, for a professional footballer whos whereabouts is always known, it would be impossible for him to avoid capture.

But as others have said, just because hes charged, doesn't mean he'll be convicted. Im sure he's got a decent legal team backing him when he goes to court.

unnamed north London footballer finally has a name then. Should have been suspended by the club pending investigation the moment the police investigation started. If his contract would have put the club at liability for that, then the contracts aren't fit for purpose and just underline a systemic problem at the club (and in wider football) with dismissive attitudes towards sexual violence.
