There so much to see in just Ontario. Each province is fookin massive although alot of "land" if you will haha.

I have yet to make it to Australia but it's on the bucket list. Just need to deal with my "scared of everything wants to eat you in australia" thing lol.  One day, when the kids are old enough to be left alone lol.

Brampton is the best place in Ontario I've been told

Wasn't sure where to put this, but I've had a lot of really good experiences with the NHS in recent months. Better than any I can previously recall as an adult.

Me too, but part of the reason is that I've managed, with persistence to find the more specific hospital numbers to ring and have been prepared to myther them (politely).

Sorry you've had to do that. Been a single phone call job here (GP or 111) every time.

Plus, seem to be fewer patients waiting for appointments in person at GPs, urgent care, A&E etc.

Getting an appointment with my GP is completely painless nowadays, not sure what’s changed but it’s significantly better.

My regular hospital visits however are getting worse ever time, it’s never less than 60 minutes over running. There’s always 5-10 workers just stood around the main desk the whole time doing absolutely nothing. And then after my appointment and I have to go to the pharmacy they always tell me 25 minutes wait and then it ends up being an hour.

I was there for 3 1/2 hours yesterday for what was a 5 minute appointment and a meds pick up. I have to go every 12 weeks and it seems to take the little bit longer each time.

For those who choose Canada, thank you!

I encourage you to visit every province/territory and to support and remember us canuckers especially as we all go through the current american shit show.

We might not have the glam of places like Vegas/LA but have kind, honest, welcoming people with beautiful natural scenery/landscapes. Vancouver, Montreal,  Toronto (and their surroundings) are great cities to visit if that's your vibe. So much to see in all areas of Canada that even i have not yet ventured to! East coast is up for me!

I know people here that are switching their US trips to either stay within this beautiful country or visit Europe etc. I encourage reciprocal travel from fellow Canuckers.

No matter where you visit,  have fun and stay safe!

part of our honeymoon was Montreal, Algonquin and Toronto.  Beautiful places and loads to do!

It is overdue to send our troops to defend the skies in Kyiv.

May be confusing you with another user but haven’t you spent like 2 years saying sending our troops in would be a disaster? Feels a bit hindsighty to say it’s overdue, common thread of most has been we want to avoid direct conflict between NATO and Russia, as much as most of us have sympathy for Ukraine.

It is likely me, my argument is us saying stuff and not backing it up. So at this point we either go in (we won’t for the reasons you said), or actually push Ukraine to make massive concessions. Because if we don’t do the first, the second will happen anyway but with more deaths. And then to stop villainising the people saying the realist stuff rather than the fake bs fed to Ukrainians. By the way after the war there are going to be a lot Ukrainians angry at our betrayal who will have access to military grade weapons,

I share the desire for the killing to stop, but there has to be a just peace, not one that will lead to greater confrontation in the future. There’s no point in talking about concessions whilst Russia still has maximalist demands that would see Ukraine stripped of its ability to defend itself as this will not be in anyone’s interest apart from Russia.

Thankfully Europe is beginning to come to terms that we must face up to the Russian threat. I’m also pretty sure the Ukrainians know what’s fake BS by now.

Only anecdotal, but the online booking system at our GP seems to be working better now and I've managed to get call-backs, appointments etc, with blood test results back in a few days; it has restoring some confidence that I can go for treatment. Doesn't seem to be in complete melt-down anymore. Similarly, our daughter's wait for her regular prosthetic appointment has gone from 6 months last year down to a few weeks now. To some extent it may be clearing the Covid backlog.

And if they *are* put away for a long time, will people move on from this "2 tier policing" meme?

That bodycam footage of the bloodied police officer crying after having been battered by those thugs at Manchester airport is sad.

And tbh it just infuriates me how quickly certain people came out attacking the Police after the event without knowing the facts.

That bloke is lucky a kick to the head is all he got. Perhaps this belongs in the "absolute cvnts of our time" thread.

Still 100% in the camp of saying that police officer should have been done. In fact this post kind of shows how the two sides weren't arguing about the same thing. It was never about whether the dickhead on the floor "deserved" it or not, it was to do with the fact that it is not a police officers job to be booting people in the head.

The police don't decide whether to charge someone, or whether they are found guilty, or their sentencing.  Apart from that, this make perfect sense.
