coolhandfox Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 3rd choice or 2nd of Mads goes and player coach would work. 1
Cropwellfox Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 Makes perfect sense. We haven’t got a pot to piss in and will need a number 2 when Mads goes who’ll be absolutely ok with not being first choice. Knows Marti who will be clear about what he brings. Huge experience and can support with coaching. If nothing else a far better back up than Iversen and Ward. Soon as VK goes would expect Kenneth Paal to be through the door too. 2
fox_favourite Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 Makes sense to me. Good backup which is what we need, and could be come coach straight after, or player coach. I have no issues with this 1
LCFCJohn Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 Seems a good pro and knows Marti from QPR. Interesting mentions of it being potential back up player/GK coach. Maybe he has been doing some badges already? Given the lack of GK coach, it could be a way of Marti adding to his team along with Calm and providing emergency cover on the field if needed. 1

According to AI.. Begović is taking a Master's degree in Sports Directorship at UCFB, indicating a focus on leadership and management in sports rather than direct coaching qualifications.
Aleksz Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 Regardless of coaching, we just need a back up regardless of Mads staying or not. So as long as we’re not being stupid on wages it’s perfect business. Be inclined to say Mads is defo off now though if it wasn’t already obvious. 1

Fab, already more qualified that Rudders so replacement for him 1
RedSoxUK Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 Deffo 2nd choice if Mads goes, but 3rd until then. Id be weary that he had zero minutes last season, but did make the bench so was obviously fit enough, and played the full season with Martì - not that I think that link has any meaning. Bit obvious really.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 Had a PSxG of -7.7 for QPR in 23/24, meaning he conceded nearly 8 goals more than he should have. I suspect he's washed, so just got to hope he doesn't see any action for us if he signs.
Lambert09 Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 Makes complete sense to me. Keep the path clear for Jakob. If needed he’d still do a decent job for us.

If/when Hermansen leaves then it will need addressing as we'll be down to one senior keeper - arguably it already does. Obviously if we end up giving him 50 grand a week or similar then it's mental but otherwise it seems sensible enough.

TheStig Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 5 year contract. 75` a week. Sensible signing............
ian__marshall Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 Massive upgrade on Ward. To be fair a 96 y/o wheelchair bound Begovic would represent an upgrade so one that is still mobile is OK.

If he signs, I expect Mads to leave & Begovic to be back up to Jakob. I might be wrong but that seems more plausible than paying a decent wage for a third choice keeper? Yeah exactly, because otherwise he could sit on someone else's bench in the PL as third choice still. 1

Sly Posted 19 July 2025 Posted 19 July 2025 3rd choice. He’a picking up the Schwarzer, Smithies, Jakupovic role. Most teams have the experienced pro supporting. 4

FoxesFourLife Posted 20 July 2025 Posted 20 July 2025 I can see him coming in as a player/coach which would be a smart move by the club.
