Hopefully Bilal isn't close enough to a move that he can't play in this. Dread to think who would play in the 10 role if he isn't. Difficult to predict a line up as we don't know who's fit or who is close to a move. Is Justin going to play?

Only real selection dilemma is probably centre back, unfortunately I'd be surprised if Nelson gets the nod.

Winks and Skipp in the middle as I don't want to see Soumare.

Mavs, Fatawu, Bilal and Ayew front 4 should cause enough trouble. If Bilal doesn't play I'd play Ayew and Daka up front.

I’d have Soumare in. Can see a middle two of Winks and Skipp getting swamped and bullied too easily. Maybe Hamza would be a shout for this game.

Blimey, writing this and I’m getting even less enthusiastic for the season, which I didn’t think was possible.

I know this might not appeal to everyone and at the end of the day goal difference might come into it at the end of the season, but if the scenario plays out that we are scoring at will against Sheff Wednesday, I hope we show a bit of humility and ease off. I'm all for breaking records, but should that opportunity arise, I feel it would be somewhat of a false statistic. Yeah, win comfortably, if we can, but let's not humiliate a fellow Championship team who are struggling through the ineptitude of a terrible owner.

Think you’re underestimating how hungry and up for it Wednesday are going be. Having already been written off it’s the first time they’ll be able to concentrate on football for 90 minutes.

I’d love for our team to be up for a fight….however….

Very true .... most of the squad will still have last seasons hangover and RVN / Cooper lack lustre approach .... we need some fresh faces and quickly to lift the spirits and most of all a leader on the pitch ... we have to fight our way through this season with no excuses

I see your point but I also feel you are showing respect by being competitive throughout.

If we should be winning and winning well however, I don't think we should hear any Olay, Olays from the crowd. That would be out of order.

Anyway, this is all academic, Sheff W will be up for it and do their fans proud I reckon.

If we could win 15-0 we should win 15-0, not that it would happen but there's no way we should ease off should the scoreline get huge.

Like I said, my opinion wouldn't appeal to everyone. For me beating a team in Sheffield's position 15 - 0 (should it happen) wouldn't give me any satisfaction.

It would me would be a great afternoon score as many as possible no room for any sentiment when a play off place or automatic promotion could come down to goal difference

If we missed out on promotion because we took it easy on another team

Imagine that

For me we should go for the jugular. I feel for their fans, but I want to see us destroy them, for our own benefit, a massive win would do us the world of good!

Us taking it easy on them would be super patronising

I'm all for winning 5 or 6 nil, but if we are getting into the realms of double figures, it would feel a little false for me. I appreciate it would be a great lift for the team and fans to have a massive win. As I say, it's just my own feeling and I appreciate others will want us to win by the highest score possible. It could however, also be an anti climax where we scrape a 1 - 0 victory because they deploy a low block effectively and we haven't figured out how to break that down yet.

Possibly, not seen Monga play as a 10 and not sure Alves has done enough but I'd be happy to give him a go. Probably more likely to be McAteer.

10 is Monga's preferred position.

I'd just take 3 points to be honest. Nobody wants to be the team that embarasses themselves on opening day against a club with no players and it's pretty likely every most other teams are going to take 6 points off them this season.

As the new Championship season gets started this evening, a brand new rule will be enforced for the first time.

Typically, in the EFL, team news has been released by clubs exactly 60 minutes before kick-off in every game.

There is a new rule being implemented in the EFL this season

Anticipation is always built an hour ahead of each fixture, as fans await how their team will be lining up.

But things have now been switched up for the 2025/26 season.

Instead of team news being released 60 minutes before kick-off, it will now be revealed to the public 75 minutes beforehand.

This is the same change that was made in the Premier League last summer, with the EFL now adopting the earlier line-up release.
