Scotch Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 It's pretty clear that everyone is for sale and with a handful of exceptions, I don't have a problem with it. The big question is what we plan to do when the swamp is dry. Are we seeing who we are left with and going to make a frantic end to the window to replace them or like some suspect, are we really in a worse financial place than first thought and are planning on limping on with what we have? I suspect it might be somewhere in between the two and we will sell who we can, see what we have left and make 4/5 loan signings in the last few days of the window and although it's not ideal, I can see the sense of it. As long as the loans are good enough it makes sense. Bring in as much money as possible, cut the wage bill significantly with more being cut at the end of the year with contracts expiring and get players in without risk, leaving us in a much healthier position next year for a rebuild. Unfortunately, unless the loan signings are excellent, we will be rebuilding for another year in the championship. 1
adam Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 Good money for a bloke who is out of contract in the summer. I think we will need to bring in a replacement though. Can't rely on Ricardo and Hamza proved against Huddersfield that he isn't good enough.

The Fosse Way Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 Nice that he’ll finally get to play alongside his brother Dan. 4
honeybradger Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 Good sale for us. £5mil in the last year of his contract is good business. With Ricardo, Aluko and Coulibaly we will be alright at right back without him. Will hopefully allow Joseph to get a chance later in the season as well. 2
supernuk Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 Always spoke well and tried his best. However after his injury I think he is championship level and won't be missed. However we need to now sign a striker. 2
Uncle Monty Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 Seems like a nice bloke. Broke into the scene with great potential but as many have said hasn't quite lived up to it, possibly due to the ACL. Has been somewhat of a liability at times and then pops up with an absolute cracker of a goal. I'm not too fussed if he leaves. I'm never filled with confidence when his name is on the team sheet. For the past few seasons has been a pretty consistent 4/5 out of ten every game.
Jon the Hat Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 For what we paid he has been a good signing, such a shame he never got back to his best post injury. Good luck to him! 1

But when it all goes tits up for Thomas playing left back, which we all know it can/could, who do we have to play Left Back? Another poor want away in Kristiansen? Great, Coulibaly who seemingly isn't even good enough to get a sniff right now? We're letting the best of a bad bunch go imo. Whilst I agree with this sentiment, I imagine his wages are high and to get money for someone we lose on a free next year makes sense. The wage bill has to go down and we need the fees to meet psr and hopefully make some signings. I don't have an issue with Justin like some do, but he's not been the same player since he was injured and it feels like a good deal overall to me.
CrazyKopCorner Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 £5m for James. I'd have him on the M1 heading north before mid day 1
CloudFox Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 I will miss JJ. One of the only ones who has stood up to be counted among this current group. He has also been in very poor form at times since his injury. But never felt he stopped trying. We will be weaker without him until Aluko proves himself, and either Thomas improves or we get a new left back. 2

Pereira, Bozo, Choudhury and Aluko is more than adequate at RB even allowing for RP's injury record. I though he was pretty pure in the last Championship season.
Spudulike Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 We always look vulnerable down our right flank when JJ is playing. Arguable whether it's his lack of positioning or being over exposed by tactical formations. Never reached those heady heights of England recognition following that long ACL lay-off resulting in loss of some pace, one of his main attributes. Suppose we were spoiled by having Simmo. JJ has scored some cracking goals for us though. Like Wilf, he's been a good character and will miss him if he goes. Time moves on. 1
Jacob7839 Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 Nice person and a great goal catalogue. Ruined by injuries in my opinion 3
Tommy Fresh Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 Annoyingly it's easier to move on lads like Justin because he seems to be a genuinely nice bloke 1
Lionator Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 Just cannot see how Leeds can watch his reel from last season and think “yep, that’s what we need to stay up” 2

frany104 Posted 15 August 2025 Posted 15 August 2025 Sell….. last year of his contract, and he’s not that good. let Ricardo, Coulibaly and Aluko have the run spots hopefully gives us some funds to buy players. we seriously need some fresh faces in the squad.
