sdb Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 (edited) Nothing wrong with a bit of experience down the spine of the team, especially with a relatively young keeper now starting. Vestergaard and Soumare can be decent players if they want to be. They didn't last season, but hopefully that's changed. Nelson is v raw (of course we'd all prefer an academy player start) and Winks was a disgrace last season. It's hardly a disaster that neither is playing from the off. Edited 10 August 2025 by sdb

Likely in the minority here but im yet to see anything particularly impressive from Alves. Never really thought he stood out on loan at Cardiff either. Obviously limited game time and still young but probably benefit from another loan. 3 3

Tielemans63 Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Soumare has no excuse. Time to show something (anything) after 4 years of ambling around doing **** all. 1

kingfox Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Just like last week, Vestergaard is probably starting for his passing ability, Marti likes at least one centre back to have good passing range. For now I understand it, but hopefully Marti starts to show trust in Nelson in that regard, and he eventually takes Vestergaard’s spot.
ALC Fox Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Alves not in the squad is a wake-up call for him and for us, I think. He feels a bit underused in pre-season but maybe Martí needs to see a lot more from him. I really want him to do well but it's a cut-throat business and needs to probably have a look at himself and ask why 16 and 17-year-olds are making the squad ahead of him. Huge season ahead for him and his future here, I feel. 2

Take this as definite .... there will be no easy games in this league... we will have to fight for each and every point ... Sheff Wed's will not be easy

What concerns me, is that spine is so slow. From what I’ve seen this weekend, 90% of football in this league is transitional. They purposely play on the shoulder to expose slow defences, it completely destroyed Sheffield United yesterday, no matter how good you are in possession, simple moves can completely undo you with a lack of pace.
iancognito Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 My God. They've managed to make the stadium announcer even more shouty and excitable 🙉

Popular Post moore_94 Posted 10 August 2025 Author Popular Post Posted 10 August 2025 Soumare wasn’t putting effort in whilst playing in the Prem Absolutely no reason to believe he will suddenly do so in the Championship Hopefully we somehow get him gone by the end of the window 5
Leicesterpool Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Faes not starting, hopefully another one ship out before the window closes. 1 1
RedSoxUK Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Who the **** do people want to start over Soumare? Harry pass back Winks, Hamza, or the kid Page in a deeper position to what he actually plays. Come on FFS we're light on CMs. 1
