Nothing wrong with a bit of experience down the spine of the team, especially with a relatively young keeper now starting.

Vestergaard and Soumare can be decent players if they want to be. They didn't last season, but hopefully that's changed. Nelson is v raw (of course we'd all prefer an academy player start) and Winks was a disgrace last season. It's hardly a disaster  that neither is playing from the off.

Their lineup has plenty of experience about it, so it should be a competitive game.

Its going to be tough, for sure.  They have something to prove.

Page over Alves? Discuss.

Page will be an option in the middle as cover for any of Soumare, Skipp and Bilal.  Alves would be cover for Mav or Bilal in a 10 role, where Monga already has him beat.

Captain Tampax.

One week in, three weeks out

Whilst I despise what you’ve said about Ricardo, it was genuinely hilarious.

Just like last week, Vestergaard is probably starting for his passing ability, Marti likes at least one centre back to have good passing range.

For now I understand it, but hopefully Marti starts to show trust in Nelson in that regard, and he eventually takes Vestergaard’s spot.

Alves not in the squad is a wake-up call for him and for us, I think. He feels a bit underused in pre-season but maybe Martí needs to see a lot more from him. I really want him to do well but it's a cut-throat business and needs to probably have a look at himself and ask why 16 and 17-year-olds are making the squad ahead of him.

Huge season ahead for him and his future here, I feel.

Take this as definite .... there will be no easy games in this league... we will have to fight for each and every point ... Sheff Wed's will not be easy

What concerns me, is that spine is so slow. From what I’ve seen this weekend, 90% of football in this league is transitional. They purposely play on the shoulder to expose slow defences, it completely destroyed Sheffield United yesterday, no matter how good you are in possession, simple moves can completely undo you with a lack of pace.

Likely in the minority here but im yet to see anything particularly impressive from Alves.

Never really thought he stood out on loan at Cardiff either.

Obviously limited game time and still young but probably benefit from another loan.

Totally agree

Who the **** do people want to start over Soumare? Harry pass back Winks, Hamza, or the kid Page in a deeper position to what he actually plays.

Come on FFS we're light on CMs.
