Second half was much better, Winks made a difference. First half was terrible, a better team than Wednesday probably go in more than 1 up.

It was clearly a yellow card for Baz from slow motion footage, as his studs were up, but in real time it looked like a 50/50 challenge... Unfortunately Baz had already had a yellow for descent following Leicester's first goal, which you don't even need slow motion to determine as being clearly offside... The Leicester player running back into play from a clear 4-5 yards offside position - it doesn't matter if he touched the ball or not and how the linesman missed that is typical EFL.

It wasn’t it was for a foul on fatawu 5 mins before he was sent. As for the ‘offside’ it’s really not as clear and obvious as Wednesday fans are making out and wouldn’t be overturned by var I don’t think

Are we sure all the supposed boos for Faes are such? I thought it’s weirdos shouting “WOUTTT”

This is exactly what it was. I think it even confused Faes who was pissed off when he scored. Personally if no one is in for him, I think he’s very good in The Championship despite his flaws.

Why boo faes when he comes on and why boo him when he wins us the game? I get people don't like him but support the guy while he's on the pitch ffs. Makes you look simple

It was the crowd shouting WOUTTT not booing. It was around me in H1 anyway.

Fatawu is too good for this level, when he improves his finishing he’s going to be insane.

The save by Stol from Chalobah was excellent, he’s a fantastic shot stopper

Their goal was a defensive mess, Okoli, Thomas and Soumare all weak during it. The Skipp dive in makes it a goal too, think it hits JJ otherwise.

As much as it’s being said we deserved to be 1-0 down at HT, we had 2 or 3 really good chances we should have done better with.

I quite fancy Luke Thomas for a few goals this season.

Overall I’m encouraged still, with better finishing we win that 4-1 and the narrative is different.

Still think we need a 6 and a 9 (Ayew was good though)

Thoughts:

If Okoli plays it needs to be with Faes or Nelson rather than Vestergaard. They seem to just be on massively different wave lengths.

Winks +1 is the base of the midfield. Personally i would jettison soumare and skipp to the bench and have choudhury behind winks and elk.

The front 3 of Mav? Fatawi and Ayew with back up of Monga, McAteer amd Daka is plenty competitive for a play off run but will lack the consistency for any 10 wins on the spin runs. For that we will need to bring in a 9 that meant Ayew and Daka were seen as 'a strong bench".

All in all we are on the crossroads between a potentially brilliant season where the decks are cleared and homegrown talent (stola, choudhury, monga, thomas, mcateer, evans) starts to power a new era for the club alongside 1 or 2 judicious buys OR we lose 4 or 5 players (elk, fatawu, faes, justin, mavi)  before Sept 1st and are banned from bringing anyone in + a points deduction, cancelling out a good start.

its going to be a long 3 weeks...

A lot of plaudits for winks and the opposite for skipp.
we changed shape at half time yesterday which improved us massively.  I won’t accept that skipp can’t play winks’ role in that second half. He may not quite be as good at it but he did it for spurs.  You wouldn’t usually take off a player at HT if you’re changing the formation unless that player can’t play that role.  Were there any questions in the presser as to why skipp was substituted?  Was it based on him just not being ‘at it’ or did he pick up a knock?

Var would have overturned our first goal - 100%.  Winks was nuts trying to play the ball when he knew he was offside. but it’s what it is - no var and you’ll win some and lose some through the campaign.

Im pretty sure bannon was booked for dissent when fats was fouled.

This really had the feel of how we started against Coventry last time we were in this league. Hopefully a good omen

The first few games we were absolutely terrible, Huddersfield and Rotherham away in particular. But those points got us up in the end. The football will improve come October and beyond, so it’s important to pick up as many points in the games we should be winning now.

It surprises me everyone attributes the change to winks / skipp as well.

In the first half Bilal spent a lot of the game at left back, we didnt really press and Jannik was holding on to the ball far too long, playing as he did under Maresca.

A lot changed in the 2nd half. Jannik played much better and released the ball much earlier.

Mention for Jakub. Save of the game from Chalobah.

Their keeper's save from Daka's header was brilliant. He was entertaining actually, good reflexes but really erratic.

It was one of the weirdest displays from a keeper i had ever seen. Even in the warm up they had a fat bloke kicking balls at him close and so hard - it was hilarious and ive never seen a warm up like it. It was like they found a bloke from the pub who could hit it hard. The coach looked like he genuinely wanted to hurt him.

He made a few brilliant saves, and then looked dodgy as ***k. His kicking was the worst i think i had ever seen and he spent most of the game looking like he was having a mental breakdown. I still dont know how we didnt put 4 past him.

Yes another great save. I’d just give to Jakub. Was sat just to the right and saw it, finger tips. We conceded shortly after but great keeping.

both were great saves.

Anyone else notice that a few of the corporate boxes weren't occupied and had no name above them yesterday. As far as I can remember they have always been in demand.

Just looked at the stats, the scoreline made it look much worse than it was and it's impossible to argue otherwise. On another day that would have easily have been 3/4/5-0.

BEK chance in the opening 15 mins goes in and I think we have a bit of a romp and win scoring 3 or 4. Even with how it played out, Daka's header and BEK's 2nd chance we stopped by great saves.

They haven’t sold out this season

All the other corporate areas were pretty sparse too

Serves the club right for whacking up prices in the PL which forced most the local box holders out in favour of big companies

Only for the big companies to turn their back on the club now we aren’t competing at the top

Not sure what everyone was expecting, new manager just in, Wednesday disruption probably galvanised them, which it did, including their fans, but both were up for it. They faded, we came into it more, remember how it was last time out in the Championship, no easy games etc. 3 points, move on.

But it won’t be, they were trying to prove a point but just tired.

Exactly, we're unfortunate in that we had Wednesday first, after the week they just had they were always going to be up for this game.

Once they get more injures and suspensions to the 13  first teamers then they'll be a easy 3 points.

Not much we can take from that game other than we struggled against a low block and teams that can run.

If we can play unfit teams that have players cramping up 5 mins into the 2nd half though we'll walk the league :D
