We also received 6 yellows during the Boro game, which was again laughable as we seemed to be getting smashed by their players who only received 1 yellow & a red (last few minutes for that)

Both Brittain & Conway could have received reds and probably should have received a red in the case of Brittain for his persistent fouling and the constant chasing, surrounding  and barracking at the ref but he never even received a yellow.

Anyway the commentator did mention, at 5 yellows we were 1 away from a fine and obviously we got that 6th card but not heard anything on it since & doing a quick search seems we don’t get fined in the championship so he was probably confusing himself with premier rules also.

What a crap rule anyway. Given the officials at all levels find it impossible to be consistent, how can you impose more punishment? It’d bad enough players have to miss games for accruing yellows where they are dubious or inconsistent.

Just been to watch Spanish football (5th Tier ) and it’s noticeable all the refs and assistants are young bythat I mean in their 20s . They look the part turn up together warm up on the pitch when the players do but more importantly are anonymous ie it’s about the match not them. Today 4 bookings 2 a piece and main thing was the ref was totally consistent. Last year a lady reffed our local derby which is always feisty but did a great job even though it was brutal she handled it . My mate said why can’t the overpaid mostly older idiotsget it right in the premier league?

The challenge on Fatawu in injury time looked bad from where we are, we wondered if the ref’s weak response was the cause of the handbags in our penalty area shortly afterwards.

That bust up was caused by a Stoke player deliberately stamping on Begovic's foot, the sneaky bugger.

Like a lot yesterday, the cameras picked it up but the officials didn't.

As just 4 people who will naturally get drawn to the ball rather than everything, I expect the officials to miss the odd thing. But these missed things continually.

I really really did not want to think that there would be a link between the ongoing issues with the PL and EFL and the officiating we would receive this season but it’s getting harder and harder by the game, to ignore it.

Players now getting visibility frustrated with him. Hope none of them shake his hand and someone says something to him about how terrible he’s been.

You guys need to realise the sport is full of corruption from top to bottom.

Even NBA had players, managers etc arrested a few weeks ago.

My advice: Just pick another sport to entertain you like baseball or American football where the "turn based" nature of these sports decreases significantly the room for corruption.

He shouldn't be allowed to be a ref. Some of those decisions were atrocious. His assistants were a disgrace as well.

How on earth the EFL can allow this standard of officiating and think it's acceptable is an utter joke.

He was awful yet we were worse...says it all

From memory this bloke has historically never given us a bean. The treatment of younger players in this league, both protection of them by officals and the quickness to punish verses more experienced players is quite frankly a disgrace.

I thought he was banned from reffing us. That must’ve ended

Only technically. Arsehole has never been capable to ref in the prem.

The first goal was particularly egregious. Offside decisions can be difficult in real time, but the difficulty with that offside decision was if the player had actually managed to just get himself onside, having appeared to be offside the whole time. This is a situation that often gets incorrectly called offside when the player was just on, as it looks so obviously offside. So there is no way this should be mistakenly given as onside unless you are really going out your way to do so.

I do wonder if there is a set up at play here where attacking teams will line up 3 players offside and have two of them obscuring the linesman’s view. Hence the free kick is always played to the man furthest away from the lino.  Not applicable where var is in play.

it was poor

First card was a cast iron yellow.
No thought given to the kids state of mind on his debut with the second

players grappling as they tried to get ahead of each other. Aluko just got hold of more of fellowes shirt than he was able to of aluko’s. if a ref has okayed the game then he appreciates that. If wasn’t a shirt pull on a player that got away from a defender that’s an auto yellow.  ref should have given himself an extra five seconds thinking time and told him that he was on thin ice from that point,

Wait, do you think the 2nd one wasn't a yellow!?

I think he could have had a stern word with him. second yellows are generally tougher than that unless it’s repeated fouling. reminded me of amarty’s sending off at home to Man U when he came on at right back and made two fouls tackles.
