I know they've gotten off to shaky starts but I can see Southampton and Ipswich both picking up very soon, for the reason you've mentioned. Both have been unsettled this window with players moving on and others coming in. Ultimately their squads are too good compared to most of this league not to be chasing automatics in my opinion.

Agreed but can see us finding our flow too. I think the transfer window has hampered the 3 relegated sides - us and Southampton losing players, Ipswich scatter buying anyone they can. Expect by the end of September all 3 have knuckled down and are cracking on.

Going forward we're largely an abomination but we barely let them create a thing after pouncing on their early mistake. We look semi organised.

That was the biggest difference to me, we looked far more organised in defence. I could see that the players knew their jobs better, and of course the work rate was much higher. If we could add some attacking players, then I think we could give promotion a real go.

Nice to wake up on a Saturday morning to a win for a change.  Important that we get points early when we are and other teams are still finding our feet.  Gives us a chance later on when things are more settled.

Do we just boo people because they weren’t good? I think people find it odd because he didn’t do anything negative towards us.

Him being unhappy because he wasn’t getting starts isn’t a reason for us to dislike the guy.

mahrez got that treatment because of how disrespectful he was when he left. If you haven’t joined a rival or been negative towards us, why would we boo ex players? I don’t get it at all.

Why you so bothered? He was a petulant child and he got as many claps as he did boos anyway. I'm sure he will live. People have worse to deal with.

3 passes was it, for the first goal?

So we don’t need 28 passes from Keeper to RB in order for us to be allowed to score?

I’ll note that down for the future

Nail on head. Both goals were great and really easy on the eye. Forward intent and breaking the lines quickly for the first and a peach of a ball by Monga for the second. Really enjoyed both.

It does seem under Marti that we are trying to get forward quickly. When we restart from the back, it does feels like we are looking up rather than just knocking it back.

Hopefully a wake up call to those who claim direct = hoofball.

I remember a great goal at Sheff U midweek,  probably a cup game. Apart from that he never delivered consistently.

Cardiff away not come to mind? man United away under Puel was his best goal

Hes building something thats for sure. Was a stressful watch until the second goal, but we were excellent out of possession. Still lacking creativity and threat, but an accomplished win against a solid side full of confidence

Apart from deleting all his Leicester posts and saying "shackles off. Freedom" when he left you mean? Let's not be revisionist and claim "he didn't do anything negative" when he did on and off the pitch with us.

100%. Our attacking play is a major issue. It’s the lack of movement that’s most alarming. But, like you say, Marti has made us more organised.

Im going to credit him though, I think he’s recognised we’re a bit disjointed at the moment, so rather that aimlessly beavering away at something that isn’t working, he’s made us gritty and is grinding out results. Hopefully, whilst working on the more possession base of the game in training.

It can be easy, when there’s so much disharmony in the team at the moment, he’s leaning on those who want to be here and is creating a positive environment. So far, I’m really impressed with how he is handling this situation.

3 more points, money in bank. things are looking good right now on paper, but it cant last without someone coming in to flesh out the squad

The manager is doing well with the squad he has and substitutions are good suggesting he can read the game. However only 2 shots on target really need a playmaker and striker sorting this weekend which won’t be easy.

Really enjoyed it last night. A lot more effort shown on the pitch and in the stands.

Said it after the Charlton game, but I think we'll get better as the weeks go on- the youngsters will keep improving, a few wins will start to clear the rotten mentality and the squad will be a lot more settled once the transfer window shuts, one way or another (hopefully with a couple of solid additions).

We've got the quality to challenge at this level throughout the side. Vestegaard has turned into Beckenbauer again and, just maybe, the penny might finally have dropped with Soumare that he's got to graft for it- much better over the last couple of games.

Great win which I have to say was unexpected. Every player on the pitch looked like they cared and put in a shift.

That said, if we don’t buy a striker we are more ****ed behind the scenes that we know. How anyone can’t see that if we spend a decent chunk of the £50m we’ve raised in player sales (or £75-80m if BEK leaves) we have an amazing chance of going straight back up and whatever outlay we pay will be repaid 10x.

Yeah if Winks and VK go too we’d be short in their positions too but we are desperate for a striker and there’s no reason on the surface why we can’t go and spend £12-15m on a first choice striker. I genuinely don’t think we will though🥺

Dominated the match lol **** off

I heard a couple of Brum fans on the walk back saying it’s their second game without having a shot! Definitely dominant!

3 wins out of 4 , 2 clean sheets in a row and still haven’t got a settled team. Nice to grind out some hard fought wins even id it isn’t pretty to watch.
the manager needs backing in the next few days and I think we will be fine .

Thought it was a great performance. Based on the players we have available, it was always going to be a bit laboured, but they were structured off the ball and didn't overplay (much!)

Once the window closes and we've either replaced BEK or he knuckles down, we have a decent enough looking 11.

A striker will be the difference between playoffs and midtable thpugh.

best performance of the season imo,

wasnt the greatest in terms of quality but in terms of fight which is what we want,

although it does show we need a few fresh faces in the squad imo

Buzzing after last night. On my run this morning round the city, I saw plenty of people wearing City shirts, old men going for the paper, people waiting for the bus, kids going to football training. That was a performance with heart and character- probably the type of win our fan base best responds to.

It's why Marti deserves backing. He's got a system that's starting to work and the players he has are fighting for the club, so let's marry that to a bit of extra quality. The right signings in the right position and we might have a spot of optimism.
