KDH hadn’t played a single minute of senior football at Alves’s age

He hadn't had the kind of injury Alves has suffered though.

We can't just lean on the KDH example every time, the way his career has taken off is certainly not the norm.

In the same breath as mentioning hes 20, Monga and Page are a few years younger and finding regular first team opportunities, and taking them.

Leicester City ace breaks silence as transfer deadline day departure confirmed
The Foxes have announced an exit from the King Power Stadium on transfer deadline day

Will Alves has spoken about his transfer deadline day departure from Leicester City.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has left the King Power Stadium to join League One Huddersfield Town on loan for the season.

“I’m buzzing to be here. Really excited to get going with all the team, and I just can’t wait to get started,” he said.

“I spoke to the gaffer the other day, and just seeing the way the team are playing, and how well they’re doing, I really want to be a part of it and also help them out myself.

“The gaffer was showing me where I fit in the team, and how I can help, and the style of play, which I think really suits me. I feel like it really suits me.

“It’s a great stadium, with a great set of fans, and I can’t wait to be playing in front and for them now.”

Huddersfield are sixth in League One and boast promotion ambitions this season.

Terriers boss Lee Grant said: “Will is a gifted young attacking player with heaps of potential, and his desire to improve, be involved and impact games could not have been more evident in the conversations we’ve enjoyed before finalising this move.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with him alongside our coaches to help harness and unlock more of that ability within games.

“We are in a very fortunate position to have completed the majority of our transfer activity before the season started, but we have stayed alive to any opportunities we felt would make the group as a whole better rounded, and Will fits that profile exactly.

“Able to fulfil multiple positions within the final third, his versatility lends itself to the tactical and positional flexibility we have already shown on multiple occasions this season.

“Fit and ready to train with us and begin learning our ideas and principles, we look forward to getting him up to speed as quickly as possible with the fixture list full of challenges in the coming days, weeks and months.”

Wish him well at Huddersfield, plenty of opportunities to learn and improve, and to gain confidence.

Will will come back better and stronger from this.

A shame as I was hoping this season would have been his chance to get into the squad - especially with Bilal leaving as well - clearly a bit down the pecking order for Martí though

I would've preferred it was a Championship loan as well as he was decent for a proper crap Cardiff side last season but at least he will be fighting at the top of league one

Still has plenty of time to develop for us as well, KDH still hadn't been out on loan or even made a senior appearance at Alves's age

Better to flourish in a successful League one team than fester in a struggling Championship one.

I really thought he’d play a part this season. Page has obviously leapfrogged him in the pecking order.

Full season will do him good.

Page is up for a new contract at Leicester. He is being wooed and shown that the club value him.

Same thing happened to Alves before he signed his contract renewal. Straight after he did Ayew, BEK, BcR and Buananotte were all signed. Is he now meant to wait while the Page thing plays out?
Good for him to push for the loan and take some ownership over his development - because the club have been abysmal IMO in developing him properly.

Big opportunity for him. Even at only 20 his development is, what 12 to 18 months behind that because of the injury and recovery.

A good run and regular football for a first team where it actually matters will be brilliant for him. He had a taste of that last season but it's difficult for a struggling side where managers chop and change just to hopefully strike upon the formula that will keep them up.

Hopefully Huddersfield can challenge this season and Alves will be a big part of that. He could come on leaps and bounds this season. I have to admit, in training videos and what little he's played for us, he looks like he needs to find his confidence and swagger again.

Mentally he probably needs to trust body again after such a horrific injury , look at Justin he's never been the same since his knee injury and I think a lot of that is down to him not trusting his body

If Bilal has gone on loan, why have we sent him on loan. This just seems stupid. We need numbers in the attacking CM position

Hes a LM i think. Strengths lies in cutting in off the wing and beating a man rather then a playmaker

100% agree. If he is only considered as a 8/10 then I have concerns about whether he will make it in the top two divisions in this country. As a LW, I think he has a good chance.

Hopefully he can develop his passing game out on loan as that's probably what he needs to get to the next level.
