We shoot all the time, we had three games in a row recently with something like 20+ shots per game but only a single shot on target per game. We just can’t hit a barn door.

Yep, we literally do exactly what the OP is asking for already. Don't create enough high xG chances (apart from Mavididi missing from 2 yards out vs Blackburn, of course)
