Probably be a disastrous appointment, but good luck to him regardless. Pretty sure he played in that shocker of a defeat for us at Newport in 2019.

I don't think it will be disastrous !! You know his players will love him & run through walls for him !!!

I think he will make a good manager. Very charismatic and clearly understood the game very well.

Have always thought he's the most likely of our title-winning team to make a good manager, and wished he'd have been contacted by us before now to have a role in the club, with the hope of him eventually becoming our manager.

I hope that our owners/board might make a belated approach soon with that in mind.

Yep, probably only him and Kasper would be good I think! I’m glad that he’s going for it anyway, if he does well there he’ll shoot through the divisions.

See him as similar to Lampard - he speaks well, knows the game and has a brain.

So can see him doing as well as Lampard currently is over time.

Personally I think he will do well

Very difficult to walk into a club like that with no managerial experience. Personally I think he could have a decent career but this job is a car crash waiting to happen

10 posts. That was my prediction before this statement was made. You did it in 7. Well done, Sir.

He'll be up against it at Newport, for sure.  They're rock bottom of League Two!  Absolutely love the bloke though, he was a great player, brilliant professional and had a genuine connection with the fans. Hope he does well and regardless of results, I'd welcome him back here in a flash in pretty much any capacity right now.

Love the comment about Newport misspelling his name (with a K!) on the Teamsheet for the Cup game we played there.

Can't believe he rates Rodgers though - possibly the Charlotte version of Dean Smith is OK (not the KP version) and certainly Tuchel.

Tough start for Fuchsy 3 nil away at Oldham.

Good to see the Melton Modric played the full game though.

Plenty out injured for Newport, going to be tough for him.

He could surely have kept his powder dry for  a decent Bundesliga or 2. Bundesliga job.

If he fails at Newport (likely, not even his fault) it could be enough to tank his career before it’s started.

Doubt it.  Enzo fluffed it at Parma, and look at him now.  Fxxking hell Russell Martin seems to be able to get jobs so you could probably burn a club down to the ground and still find employment.

Not surprised he rated Rodgers. He left in 2021- after we won the fa cup.

The majority of players adored Rodgers and it’s this lack of awareness and responsibility for what happened during the latter end of his spell, that is indicative of the characters that contributed to it.

Sacked after 13 games at Parma is hardly dropping out of the league entirely with Newport

Dunno. There's always two ways to look at a situation like that.

Of course there's the risk of getting the stink of the job on you. But the other way of looking at it is it's sort of a free shot.

If the entire football community knows the job is a car crash before he even rocks up then you could say he either looks exceptional for any progress he can make or he doesn't and those in the know don't exactly judge.
